Sherlock Holmes is the famous literary character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that is considered one of the most important staples of the mystery genre. The character has been featured for over a century in various forms of media including feature films and television series.

  • The Sign of Four (1923) - A 1923 British screen adaptation of same title novel, starring Eille Norwood as Sherlock Holmes and Arthur M. Cullin as Dr. Watson.
  • The Sleeping Cardinal - A 1931 British movie, losely adapted from "The Empty House" and "The Final Problem", starring Arthur Wontner as Sherlock Holmes and Ian Fleming as Dr. Watson. This is the first screen appearance of Wontner as Sherlock Holmes.
