The Black Abbot (Der schwarze Abt) is a 1963 German detective movie directed by Franz Josef Gottlieb and adapted from the 1926 novel by Edgar Wallace. Lord Chelford is on hunt for the legendary treasures of his ancestors that are allegedly hidden in the ruins of Fossoway Abbey. A mysterious figure of the "Black Abbot" is thought to be the guard of the treasures.

The film is the thirteenth installment in the Rialto Film studio film series (1959-1972) adapted from the novels of Edgar Wallace.

Fabian Gilder (Werner Peters) holds a Ruby style pistol when he and Mary Wenner explore the dungeon. Then he gives the pistol to Lord Chelford's butler Thomas Fortuna (Klaus Kinski).

An unknown person uses a Walther Model 4 to fire at Mary Wenner. Arthur Gine (Harry Wüstenhagen) is supposed to be the shooter but he isn't seen with this gun. Lord Harry Chelford (Dieter Borsche) holds a Walther Model 4 during his encounter with the "Black Abbot". In the final scene Inspector Puddler (Charles Regnier) is armed with a Walther Model 4.

Rifles and Shotguns

Over and Under Rifle/Shotgun and Assassination Device

Fabian Gilder (Werner Peters) owns an over and under combination rifle/shotgun with sniper scope. In one scene the gun is used by Mary Wenner (Eva Ingeborg Scholz). When Gilder lures Arthur Gine (Harry Wüstenhagen) into using the gun, the sniper scope turns out to be an Assassination Device, firing from the rear end at the person who pulls the trigger.
This gun is the same model (and most likely the same prop) as those used in The Ringer, Again the Ringer, The Curse of the Hidden Vault, and The Monk with the Whip.
