Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is the first television spin-off of the series Law & Order. The series (sometimes referred to as Law & Order: SVU) revolves around the cases investigated by the NYPD's Special Victims Unit, which primarily handles sexually-based offenses. The series premiered in 1999 on NBC and currently airs on the network.
The following lists the weapons seen in Season 7 of the series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit:
Handguns
Glock 19
2nd and 3rd Generation Glock 19s are used by the majority of NYPD detectives in the Special Victims Unit including Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Detective (later Sergeant) John Munch (Richard Belzer), Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T), Detective Brian Cassidy (Dean Winters), Detective Chester Lake (Adam Beach), Detective Nick Amaro (Danny Pino), and Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish). Captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) is sometimes seen carrying one in some episodes. Uniformed NYPD Officers and FBI Agents, including Special Agents Dean Porter (Vincent Spano) and Dana Lewis (Marcia Gay Harden) are seen using Glock 19s as well. Like many television shows and films, every time a Glock is seen being drawn, the sound effect of a hammer cocking is heard (despite the fact that Glocks are hammerless).
Glock Non Gun
In some scenes, a Non Gun Glock is used.
Glock 23
In Season 8's premiere "Informed" (S8E01), FBI Special Agent Dana Lewis (Marcia Gay Harden) is seen drawing her Glock 23. She specifically states that her Glock is a ".40". Agent Lewis also is seen drawing her sidearm in "Penetration" (S12E08). The .40 Glock is the standard sidearm of the FBI.
Browning Hi-Power
In Season 9's "Inconceivable", a Browning Hi-Power appears to be used by a man named Scott Ryland (Kevin Kane Jr.) to shoot James Grall (Mark Moses). It's later discovered at Ryland's apartment and identified as a "9mm Browning" by Det. Stabler.
SIG-Sauer P232
In "Justice" (S3E19), a SIG-Sauer P232 is used by Tony Degalio (Michael Luggio) to shoot Judge Thornburg. Identified as a .380 semiautomatic, Det. Benson picks it up with a pen as evidence out of an abandoned van.
SIG-Sauer P220
Keith Gerard (Joe Murphy) is seen with a SIG-Sauer P220 in "Risk" (S4E12). In "Signature" (S9E12), a SIG-Sauer P220 appears to be pulled by FBI Special Agent Lauren Cooper (Erika Christensen).
SIG Sauer P228
A SIG-Sauer P228 is carried by Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) in "PTSD" (S10E09).
Heckler & Koch P7M8
In Season 4's premiere "Chameleon" (S4E01), Maggie Peterson (Sharon Lawrence) uses a Heckler & Koch P7M8.
Kahr K9
In "Ripped" (S7E04), Det. Stabler carries a Kahr K9 as his off-duty weapon. In "Florida" (S8E19), the pistol is carried by Capt. Julia Milfield (Kim Delaney), but is taken and held on her by Simon Marsden (Michael Weston). The Kahr K9 was an authorized offduty NYPD weapon until it was withdrawn in December 2011 by NYPD Command.
Ruger KP94
In "Tangled" (S3E05), a Ruger KP94 is held by Lara Todd (Liza Weil). Stabler identifies the pistol as a "Ruger P94" in the episode.
Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith"
A Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith" appears in "Bound" (S5E23).
Smith & Wesson 5946
Ray Bevins (Joe Morton) uses a Smith & Wesson 5946 in "Grief" (S4E23). In "Escape" (S5E11), Michael Baxter (Stephen Lang) pulls the S&W.
Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 36
Capt. Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) is seen with a Smith & Wesson Model 36 as his sidearm in some episodes. One appears in the episode "Noncompliance" (S2E06). In "Grief" (S4E23), the revolver is used by a victim to commit suicide with, and is identified as a "Smith & Wesson Model 36" by CSU. In "Blast" (S7E13), the revolver is seen as Stabler's backup and is given to Dr. Melinda Warner (Tamara Tunie) to use in the episode.
Colt Python (snub)
In "Redemption" (S3E06), Det. John "Hawk" Hawkins (David Keith) carries a Colt Python snub nose revolver as his sidearm.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The NYPD ESU Officers throughout the series use Heckler & Koch MP5A3s as one of their main weapons. They are fitted with various attachments, such as scopes or tactical flashlights.
MAC-10
A MAC-10 is used by Daniel Hunter (Shawn Reaves) in Season 7's "Blast" (S7E13).
Rifles
Colt M4A1 Carbine
The M4A1 Carbine is a frequent weapon carried by members of the NYPD's Emergency Services Unit (ESU) throughout the series. They are fitted with various optics including EOTech sights and M68 Aimpoint scopes.
M16A2
M16A2 rifles are seen in a store display in "Raw" (S7E06).
Sniper Rifles
Remington 700PSS
The NYPD ESU snipers are seen using Remington 700s throughout the series. In "Escape" (S5E11), Jersey State snipers are seen with the rifles.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37
The Ithaca 37 shotgun is another weapon frequently carried by NYPD ESU and other SWAT officers in the series. An ESU Team Leader is seen carrying an Ithaca 37 in "Signature" (S9E12).
Ithaca 37 Stakeout
In "Fault" (S7E19), a customized Ithaca 37 Stakeout shotgun with a shortened barrel and magazine tube, a ventilated barrel shroud and a folding vertical grip is used by Victor Paul Gitano (Lou Diamond Phillips) while holding Det. Stabler hostage.
