Heckler & Koch AG grenade launcher series
The Heckler & Koch AG series is a family of both underslung and standalone grenade launchers. Different models in the series differ mainly in the method by which they are attached to the host weapon, but can also differ in their barrel length and accessory mounting options. The vast majority of the variants are chambered for 40x46mm low velocity grenades, although some variants intended for less lethal use by military and police units (such as the British L127A1) are chambered in 37mm. A modified version of the AG-C variant was adopted by the US armed forces as the M320 and M320A1. This version became the standard design and was marketed by H&K as the AG-C/EGLM (Enhanced Grenade Launching Module), before evolving into the GLM (Grenade Launching Module) which is one of the current variants offered by H&K.

AG36
The Heckler & Koch AG36 is the first weapon in the AG series and was designed for the Heckler & Koch G36, although it can also mount to the Heckler & Koch G36K if an adapter is fitted to the barrel ahead of the gas block. Although it is actually marked as the "AG G36" the second G is always omitted when referring to the weapon.

AG-C
The Heckler & Koch AG-C launcher is the variant designed to be mounted on to standard Colt AR-15 pattern carbines with a railed handguard, with the "C" standing for "Colt Carbine". This terminology is often used to refer to these launchers as a whole, despite the fact that this is actually one of the rarer configurations of the AG launcher with the main military adopter being United Kingdom Special Forces who acquired it to mount onto their L119A1 carbines (designating it as the L17A1). The launcher mounts to the carbine by having a groove on the top of the frame which slides over the bottom rail on a standard railed handguard, and locks into place on the bayonet lug using a quick release latch. This simplicity is also one of the weaknesses of this system, creating a lot of stress on parts that are not designed to take it. For this reason the UK fitted their carbines with strengthened lower handguards and front sight bases. The AG-C is visually very similar to the XM320 (the prototype of the M320) with the most obvious difference being the lack of a spring catch for fitting the XM320's adjustable stock.

L123
The Heckler & Koch AG-SA80 launcher is better known by its British military designation L123. This variant was adopted in 2002 for British military operations in Afghanistan and is fitted to the standard issue L85A2 Individual Weapon. When it was first developed it was designated as the L17A2, as opposed to the L17A1 listed above, however when it was actually adopted it was redesignated as the L123A1 to distinguish it as a different weapon system. The L123 series attaches via an entirely new replacement handguard which must be fitted by an armourer which incorporates a short section of rail to mount a laser/light module with a corresponding place to attach a remote tape switch. The L123 has gone through a series of incremental improvement with the current model being the L123A3. The L123 can be fitted with ladder sights, an EOTech holographic sight, or a Wilcox Rapid Acquisition Aiming Module.

AG416
The Heckler & Koch AG416 was a short lived variant developed specifically for the HK416 in 2005. The AG416 had a shorter barrel than the AG-C (8.5 inches which would later be used in the final M320 design) to allow it to mount to an HK416 D10RS without a significant overhang. This model was made very quickly redundant as the M320 development progressed, which introduced a folding forward grip and the option to mount a stock for standalone use.

M320
The M320 grenade launcher is the replacement for the Vietnam-era M203 as the US army's 40mm underbarrel grenade launcher while other services continue to use the M203. It was developed from the AG-C, with the XM320 prototype being almost identical. The main difference between the AG-C and the XM320 is that the latter has a modified frame which will accept an adjustable shoulder stock (with a corresponding spring catch on the left rear side of the frame) to allow it to be used more effectively in a standalone role. The final production variant of the M320 features a shorter 8.5 inch barrel and incorporates a folding vertical grip under the barrel. There are two variants of this launcher, the M320 and the M320A1 with the difference being that the former mounts to the M16A4 whilst the latter mounts on the M4/M4A1. In order to mount the M320 the lower handguard of the host rifle must be removed, and then the launcher mounts in a similar way to the M203 with the difference being that rather than having a loop at the front which wraps over the barrel, the front end of the launcher is secured with a quick detach mount locking on to the bayonet lug. The M320 variant was marketed by H&K as the AG-C/EGLM, or simply as the EGLM, and along with using the standard M320/M320A1 mounts it can be fitted to other weapons (such as the HK416 and HK417) using different mounting kits.
An additional variant of the M320 is the XM320 developed for the Heckler & Koch XM8. This variant has a redesigned frame (seemingly for purely aesthetic reasons to match the design of the XM8) and despite the fact that the XM8 and this version of the XM320 were cancelled, this launcher was purchased in very small numbers by the Malaysian armed forces. For the sake of clarity, this particular variant can be referred to as the XM320 (XM8).
NOTE: Later production M320 and M320A1 launchers are built to the same spec as the GLM listed below with the picatinny rail under the barrel. In the absence of visible markings to the contrary, these launchers should be labelled as GLMs unless they are fitted with the correct M320 or M320A1 mounting kits for use on the M16 or M4 respectively.
The M320 and variants can be seen in the following films, television series, video games, and anime used by the following actors:

GLM
The GLM (Grenade Launcher Module) is the most recent variant of the AG launcher family marketed by H&K. The GLM is very similar to the AG-C/EGLM, with the most significant difference being that instead of having the forward grip connected directly to the frame it has a short section of Picatinny rail underneath. An enhanced development of the GLM, the HK269, features the option to unlock the barrel either towards the left or right.
