The third season is created by Robert Kirkman and Glen Mazzara. Rick's group finds a new safe place in the form of a prison and tries to make a new home out of it, while Andrea and her new companion Michonne find themselves in the surviving settlement called Woodbury, led by "The Governor". Soon the two communities are forced to face off in a battle. The season consists of sixteen episodes and was premiered on October 14, 2012 on AMC.

Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) continues to use his six-inch barreled Colt Python in Season 3. He first carries it in a holster in "Seed" (S3E01) and then threatens inmates during a conflict in "Sick" (S3E02). Rick fires the Python at walkers and prison speakers during the walker attack in "Killer Within" (S3E04). Later, Oscar (Vincent Ward) picks up the revolver during a fight in the generator room. The Colt Python is seen holstered in "Say the Word" (S3E05) and "Hounded" (S3E06). At the beginning of "When the Dead Come Knocking" (S3E07), Rick fires the revolver at the walkers at the prison fence and briefly uses it in "Made to Suffer" (S3E08).

Crossbow
One of Woodbury's guards (Joseph Setticase) is armed with a crossbow guarding the wall in "Walk With Me" (S3E03).
Horton Scout HD 125
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) continues to carry his Horton Scout HD 125 crossbow as his weapon of choice in Season 3 and uses it in "Seed" (S3E01) and "Sick" (S3E02). Daryl carries it behind the back in "Killer Within" (S3E04) and uses it in "Say the Word" (S3E05), "Hounded" (S3E06) and "When the Dead Come Knocking" (S3E07).
TRIVIA: During filming of the bridge scene, Norman Reedus accidently broke the Horton Scout HD 125 buttstock when he hit the prop walker. Because of this and also with Reedus finding the Horton crossbow to be clunky and uncomfortable to use, he asked the writers for either a new crossbow or a dog, to which the former was picked, thus giving him the Stryker Strykezone 380.
Stun Grenades
After searching the prison in "Seed" (S3E01), Rick's group finds some stun grenades and later uses them during confrontations with Woodbury.
Weapons Cache & Arsenals
Rick's Bag of Guns
Rick briefly carries another bag with a Mossberg 500 and bolt action rifle in "Seed" (S3E01). Rick's original gun bag from the King County Police Department is seen on one of Michonne's pack walkers at the beginning of "Walk With Me" (S3E03). When they arrive in Woodbury the bag is left with the Governor, who checks the weapons from it in "The Suicide King" (S3E09).
