The first season is created by Robert Kirkman and Frank Darabont and starts the story of the survival of former sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes and his group. After being injured on one of the calls, Rick falls into a coma, and when he wakes up, he is horrified to realize that the world has fallen after a terrible pandemic. Now he must adapt to the new environment and find his family. The season consists of six episodes and was premiered on October 31, 2010 on AMC.

The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series The Walking Dead:

Revolvers

Colt Python

Former King County Sheriff deputy Richard Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) uses a six-inch barreled Colt Python as his primary weapon during the season. In a flashback at the beginning of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), it is revealed that the Python was actually his service weapon before the apocalypse. Rick gets the weapon back by cleaning out the police station armory and uses it to fight off a horde of walkers in Atlanta. He continues to carry the gun in a holster in "Guts" (S1E02). Rick reloads the Python with rounds given by Shane before returning to Atlanta in "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03). In "Vatos" (S1E04), he first points the gun at a pissed off Daryl, and at the end of the episode he shoots the walkers in the camp several times. When Daryl is about to attack Jim with a pickaxe in "Wildfire" (S1E05), Rick aims at him again. In "TS-19" (S1E06) the gun is seen only holstered.

Colt Python nickel-plated with 6" barrel - .357 Magnum
In the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), a flashback shows Rick wielding his Python.
Rick put his Python to the head of zombified deputy Leon Basset (Linds Edwards).
Finding himself under the tank, trapped on all sides by walkers, Rick briefly attempts to kill himself, but notices a hatch in the bottom of the tank.
At the end of the episode he puts the gun to the head of the undead soldier. When Grimes fires the gun in a very tight, enclosed space (in this case, inside a tank), it actually severely disorients him and hurts his hearing, unlike most movies or shows that have people firing guns indoors or in other enclosed spaces without being fazed. The undead soldier is portrayed by actor Sam Witwer (whose story would have been told in Frank Darabont's original script for the Season 2 premiere).
Rick reloads the revolver at the end of "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03).
Rick puts the revolver to Daryl's head in "Vatos" (S1E04) after the group fails to find Merle on the roof.
He also fires it during the walker attack on the camp at the end of the episode.
"We don't kill the living."
Grimes points the Python at Daryl in "Wildfire" (S1E05).

Smith & Wesson Model 10

One of the Vatos gang members named Felipe (Noel Gugliemi) is armed with a snub nose Smith & Wesson Model 10 in "Vatos" (S1E04). When Jim gets really sick in "Wildfire" (S1E05), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) offers him a Model 10, but he refuses.

Later in the episode, he threatens the group with the revolver during a tense conversation.
In "Wildfire" (S1E05), Rick offers Jim a Smith & Wesson Model 10 as they leave him.

Smith & Wesson Model 15

A member of the Vatos Gang named Jorge (James Gonzaba) uses what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 15 during "Vatos" (S1E04).

The pointed Smith & Wesson is seen through the rifle scope.
Jorge, in the center behind, holds the revolver during a tense conversation.

Smith & Wesson Model 586

Just before the group leaves for the CDC Headquarters at the end of "Wildfire" (S1E05), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) gives Morales (Juan Gabriel Pareja) what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 586 and a pack of ammo from the bag of guns when Morales and his family decide to leave the group.

Smith & Wesson Model 586 - .357 Magnum
Rick offers the revolver to Morales. Later, the revolver is seen tucked into his pants.

Taurus Model 85

Morgan Jones (Lennie James), the first living person Rick meets after his coma, is armed with a nickel Taurus Model 85 throughout "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). He first points the revolver at Rick, mistaking his wound for a bite, and then pulls it out at the end of the episode when the walker approaches him outside the police station.

Pistols

Beretta 92FS

Hiding in an abandoned tank from a horde of walkers at the end of the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) takes a Beretta 92FS (standing in for a U.S. Military-issue M9) from the holster of a dead soldier (Sam Witwer). After checking the magazine at the beginning of "Guts" (S1E02), Rick tells Glenn over the radio that he has "one clip, 15 rounds" and fires at the walkers after getting out of the tank. Once in a safe place he puts the empty pistol in Glenn's backpack. In "TS-19" (S1E06), a flashback shows a Beretta wielded by a U.S. soldier when he shoots the possibly infected people in the head after being executed by automatic fire at the hospital. Upon closer inspection, this appears to be a Non Gun replica.

Rick takes the gun from the dead soldier at the end of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01).
He holds the Beretta after a rough encounter with a horde of walkers.
Rick checks the Beretta's magazine at the beginning of "Guts" (S1E02).
He shoots the walkers in the alley, following Glenn.
Beretta 92F Non Gun
A soldier uses a flashpaper Beretta on the bodies in a flashback seen in "TS-19" (S1E06). The use of the Non Gun was probably done due to the enclosed space that the weapon was used in as well as for the safety of the extras on the floor, since the gun fires several times near them. Also, its appearance is relatively brief, so there probably wasn't a need for a real blank firearm.

Browning Hi-Power Silver Chrome

Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) carries a Browning Hi-Power Silver Chrome tucked in his pants and threatens T-Dog with it in "Guts" (S1E02). After disarming him, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) takes the gun and uses it in an attempt to steal a truck for the group. Browning is also briefly seen tucked into Rick's pants at the beginning of "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03). Daryl (Norman Reedus) carries his brother's gun holstered in "Wildfire" (S1E05) and "TS-19" (S1E06).

Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) snatches the Browning and points it at lying T-Dog in "Guts" (S1E02).
He also aims the gun at fellow survivors during the conflict on the rooftop.
After taking possession of the pistol, Rick puts the gun to Dixon's head.
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) aims the Hi-Power at the walkers in the mall as they burst through the first door.
The tucked pistol is also briefly seen at the beginning of "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03).
The chrome Browning Hi-Power is seen tucked in Daryl's waistband in the background in "TS-19" (S1E06).

Colt M1911A1

In the flashback seen at the beginning of the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), a third criminal (Brent Bernhard), unmentioned by the dispatcher, climbs out of an overturned car and fires a Colt M1911A1 at Rick, badly wounding him. Another pistol is also seen in the police armory later in the episode. T-Dog (IronE Singleton) is briefly seen with what appears to be a M1911A1 during a confrontation with Guillermo's men in "Vatos" (S1E04). An M1911A1 pistol is seen in the hands of a dead U.S. soldier at a sandbag guard post at the CDC building near the ending of “Wildfire” (S1E05).

CZ 75 "Pre-B"

Before meeting Guillermo's men again in "Vatos" (S1E04), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) takes and tucks a CZ 75 "Pre-B", but never fires it. In the second season, the gun is probably replaced by a Browning BDA.

On the left, the pistol can be seen in Daryl's waistband. Note the distinctive grip and hammer indicating the model.

Glock 17

A Glock 17 appears to be the primary service sidearm of King County Sheriff deputies, including Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal), Leon Basset (Linds Edwards) and Lambert Kendal (Jim R. Coleman), involved in the interception of the criminals' car in the flashback at the beginning of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). Several Linden County Sheriff deputies also use handguns in the shootout. Shane continues to carry the gun in a holster in "Guts" (S1E02) and "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03). In "Vatos" (S1E04), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) takes the Glock out of the sheriff's bag, checks and takes it with him to the second meeting with the Vatos gang, tucking the gun behind his back. Shane also briefly uses the gun during the walker attack on the camp at the end of the episode and carries it holstered in "Wildfire" (S1E05). In the opening scene of "TS-19" (S1E06), Shane holds the Glock 17 at the ready while escaping from the hospital at the onset of the outbreak. He also fires at the walkers when the group escapes from the CDC.

Shane's holstered Glock is seen in "Vatos" (S1E04) when he tries to calm Jim down.
Daryl loads up the gun from before meeting up with the Vatos gang.
The holstered pistol is visible during the standoff.
In a flashback at the beginning of "TS-19" (S1E06), Shane keeps the Glock at ready. The pistol here appears to be a non-gun.
He takes a shot at a walker running away from the CDC.

SIG-Sauer P226

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) pulls a SIG-Sauer P226 out of the sheriff's bag in "Vatos" (S1E04) and checks the magazine before tucking it behind his back in addition to the Colt Python in his holster. Arriving at the CDC at the end of "Wildfire" (S1E05) Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) is briefly seen with what appears to be a P226 in her hand.

Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith"

In "Guts" (S1E02) Andrea Harrison (Laurie Holden) points a Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith" at Rick angry about attracting walkers. However, she puts the gun down and later temporarily gives it to Rick (Andrew Lincoln), who explains how to take the safety off. She later in the episode hands the pistol to Glenn (Steven Yeun) for his own protection when he and Rick make their way to the escape van,but he's not using it. Andrea is also seen twice with the S&W in "Wildfire" (S1E05), first fending off Rick and then near CDC at the end of the episode.

Rifles

Browning Automatic Rifle Safari

T-Dog (IronE Singleton) takes a scoped Browning Automatic Rifle Safari from the sheriff's bag and uses it to cover Rick and Daryl at the meeting with Guillermo and his men in "Vatos" (S1E04). Later at the nursing home, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) leaves the rifle for the gang after learning of their good intentions.

Colt M4A1

U.S. Army soldiers are armed with M4A1 carbines, mostly fitted with Aimpoint CompM2 CCO scopes and and flashlights when they sweep the hospital of potential infected in a flashback at the onset of the outbreak in "TS-19" (S1E06). Some rifles actually appear as Non Guns Replicas with Trijicon ACOG scopes. Another M4A1 is carried by Dr. Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich) upon meeting Rick's group in the CDC. Jenner tells the group there were plenty of M4A1 carbines laying around that he taught himself how to use one.

Remington 700 VLS

Dale Horvath (Jeffrey DeMunn) carries a scoped Remington 700 VLS (Varmint Laminated Stock) since "Guts" (S1E02) slung over his back as he keeps watch over camp. Besides Dale, the rifle appears in the hands of Ed Peletier (Adam Minarovich) and another unnamed survivor at the lookout position in "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03). Dale also carries it in "Vatos" (S1E04), "Wildfire" (S1E05) and "TS-19" (S1E06). T-Dog (IronE Singleton) pulls the rifle out of the gun bag at the end of "TS-19" (S1E06) and holds it during his escape from the CDC.

Winchester Model 70

Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) fires a scoped Winchester Model 70 atop a building at walkers in "Guts" (S1E02), drawing the attention of more until Rick (Andrew Lincoln) snatches it away. Morales (Juan Gabriel Pareja) also later holds the rifle during the Atlanta escape. At least one member of the Vatos gang is armed with an unscoped Winchester in "Vatos" (S1E04). At the end of the episode, Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn) also fires the rifle (instead of his usual Remington) during the walkers' attack on the camp.

Machine Guns

Browning M2HB

Several mockups of Browning M2HB machine guns appear first on Bell UH-1 "Huey" helicopter near the Harrison Memorial Hospital at the beginning of "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), and at the end of the episode two more are seen mounted atop a British Chieftain tank (presumably standing in for an M1 Abrams) and a sandbag barricade on a street in Atlanta. The same machine gun is also briefly seen in "Guts" (S1E02). At least two Brownings are seen around the CDC at the end of "Wildfire" (S1E05) and "TS-19" (S1E06).

The abandoned machine gun is seen far right at the end of "Wildfire" (S1E05).
In "TS-19" (S1E06), another Browning M2 is briefly seen outside the CDC in Atlanta.

DShKM

For some reason, the US soldiers' fortifications near the CDC have a Soviet DShKM machine gun (or probably mocked-up Browning M2) visible in "Wildfire" (S1E05).

Other

M67 Hand Grenade (M69 Training version)

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) finds an M67 Hand Grenade next to a dead soldier in a tank at the beginning of "Guts" (S1E02) and takes it with him when he escapes. During the escape from the CDC at the end of "TS-19" (S1E06), Carol (Melissa McBride) gives Rick the grenade to break the bulletproof glass. In reality, the grenade is actually an M69, the inert training version of the live M67 grenade, noted in some shots with a bit of the blue paint showing through the over painted OD green color.

Horton Scout HD 125

A Horton Scout HD 125 crossbow appears as Daryl Dixon's (Norman Reedus) primary weapon in the season starting in "Tell It to the Frogs" (S1E03). He first hunts a deer with it, and then uses it during the Atlanta outing in "Vatos" (S1E04). He also carries the crossbow in "Wildfire" (S1E05). In "TS-19" (S1E06) besides Daryl, the crossbow briefly appears in Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Shane's (Jon Bernthal) hands as the group escapes from the CDC.

Rick's Bag of Guns

Back at his police station in "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01) Rick packs all available weapons into a bag and takes it with him to Atlanta, where he loses it to a horde of walkers. For the majority of the time in the premiere episode, the shotguns sticking out of the bag appear to be foam props. After encountering a hostile group in Atlanta in "Vatos" (S1E04), Rick, Daryl, and T-Dog arm themselves with shotguns from the returned bag, and later Rick leaves some of the weapons to Guillermo. Rick carries the bag in "Wildfire" (S1E05) and "TS-19" (S1E06). So far the current count from the bag is Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Compact, Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Protector, two Mossberg 500s with high-capacity magazine tube, Remington 870 Wingmaster, Remington 870, Browning Automatic Rifle Safari, Glock 17 (possibly more than one), SIG-Sauer P226, Smith & Wesson Model 10 snub-nose and a Smith & Wesson Model 586. In reality, that many guns in one bag would make it much too heavy to simply carry slung over the shoulder.

The Remington's forend is seen in the bag as Rick approaches Atlanta in "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). Judging by the amount of firearms seen, his pack in reality should weigh around 70 pounds.
The filled-in barrels can be seen, proving they are lightweight props.
When Rick saw the helicopter fly by two Remingtons and the Mossberg are seen.
When Rick opens the bag in "Vatos" (S1E04) a Remington 870 Wingmaster, Mossberg 500, Stevens 67, H&R Pardner Pump Protector and Compact are visible.

"M1A1 Abrams"

In the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01), Rick is seen having to take refuge in what is probably supposed to be an M1A1 Abrams tank. The tank in the episode is actually a British Chieftain with a modified turret to resemble the M1A1. Some tanks are also seen near the CDC in "Wildfire" (S1E05).

The M1A1 Abrams mockup in the series premiere "Days Gone Bye" (S1E01). As seems common for Chieftains standing in for other tanks, the thermal sleeve has been removed from the L11A5 L/55 120mm rifled cannon. This appears to be a Mark 11 tank, mounting the "Stillbrew" bolt-on armor package for the driver's position and turret, and minus the .50 cal coaxial ranging machine gun and the large infrared searchlight box on the left hand side of the turret.
Rick passes the tank. The fake M2HB is visible on the hatch, with a real M2HB in the foreground.
A closeup of the mounting; note that the mounting is designed for the L7 GPMG, an FN MAG derivative, and the fake M2 simply sits on top of it. Compare to the real M2 in the foreground of the shot above.
