Not to be confused with Like A Dragon.
|
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (JP: 龍が如く 7 Ryū ga Gotoku 7 lit. "Like a Dragon 7") is a role-playing game developed by Ryu ga Gotoku Studio and published by SEGA. It was released in 2020 for the PlayStation 4, XBOX One, XBOX Series S/X, and PC, with an enhanced version for PlayStation 5 released in March 2021. It is the eighth main game in the Yakuza franchise.
The following weapons appear in the video game Yakuza: Like a Dragon:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Handguns
Colt 1911-type pistol
One of the many returning weapon models from previous games is this distinctive Colt 1911 clone, first seen in Yakuza: Dead Souls. It most closely resembles the Para Ordnance 7.45. In this game, it appears to fire in double-action mode, which is extremely rare for a Colt 1911 clone. Later on however, Geomijul deputy leader Joon-gi Han has a pair of the same gun models wielded akimbo, and this time the hammers are in the back position.
Makarov PM clone
As has been the case for the past 11 years, this Makarov PM clone with an extended barrel has been a favourite of the Yakuza series' eponymous criminals. There appear to be both black and silver versions of this pistol in the game. This can be purchased as a battle item, called the "Antique Pistol." Both Masumi Arakawa (Kiichi Nakai) and Jo Sawashiro (Shinichi Tsutsumi) are armed with this pistol as well.
Walther PPK
Seong Hui, leader of the Geomijul, has a Walther PPK. This model has been taken from previous games, including what appears to be the de-cocking lever from the SIG-Sauer P230 acting as a magazine release; the P230 actually has its magazine release on the butt of the weapon. This model is also purchasable as a battle item, known as the "Modded Model Gun."
Revolvers
Nambu Model 60
The Nambu Model 60 handgun is seen in the holsters of police officers in the game.
Nambu Model 60/Smith & Wesson Model 36
This hybrid of the Nambu Model 60 and Smith & Wesson Model 36 returns from Yakuza Kiwami 2.
Smith & Wesson Model 10/Colt Detective Special
This Smith & Wesson Model 10 with the barrel and handgrips from a third-gen Colt Detective Special makes its return from Judgment, which in turn was a retextured version of a model from Yakuza 4. It also features a grip adapter.
Submachine Guns
Ingram MAC-10
An SMG based on the Ingram MAC-10 with the front grip and stock of a Brügger & Thomet MP9 once again makes an appearance in a Dragon-engine Yakuza game. Here, it is seen with Sohei Dojima when he is summoned for the Guns of the Forefathers attack.
Rifles
Remington 700
The Remington 700 model from Kiwami 2 appears in a story cutscene. The same model is also used as an airsoft gun in a substory. A minor bug in the game means that the substory character's right arm in the enemy list menu glitches through the butt of the "rifle."
AK-type rifle
The AK-47-derived rifle seen in a cutscene in Yakuza Kiwami is reused here by the late Futoshi Shimano in the "Guns of the Forefathers" essence move. It is unusual for an AK-type rifle due to its rear sight being on top of the rear dust cover.
Shotguns
Remington Model 870
The Remington Model 870 is seen with Osamu Kashiwagi when he is summoned for the Guns of the Forefathers attack. As with its appearance in previous Yakuza titles, it has a piece linking the front of the magazine and barrel, like the Remington Model 31.
Grenades
Flash-bang
The "Lightning Bomb" flash-bang grenade is used to stun enemies. It appears to be a retextured version of the stun grenade from Yakuza: Dead Souls, which was based on the Model 7290 flashbang grenade.
"Hand Grenade"
Hand grenades are available as a "battle item," unsurprisingly dealing damage to the target and nearby enemies when used. This model is the same as has featured in previous games, and does not appear to be based directly on any real-life model.
Molotov Cocktail
The "Bomb Bug" enemies are armed with Molotov Cocktails. Like the "flamethrower" weapon, the flames from this are purple.
Throwable dynamite
One attainable move of the "Foreman" job class is the "Explosive Throw," where the player character will throw dynamite that explodes after a short delay. The result is fire damage to the target and nearby enemies, as well as the chance to inflict the "burn" status effect. Certain enemy types can also do this, but they have to use a turn to light the dynamite before throwing it.
Type 97 hand grenade
As with Yakuza Kiwami 2, the Type 97 hand grenade is depicted as being an incendiary grenade despite the fact that it is actually a fragmentation grenade.
Other man-portable weapons
"Bowgun"
Members of the Geomijul use crossbows, which are referred to in the game as "Bowguns," for the silent approach. This weapon type is also used by enemies in battle encounters.
Flamethrower/energy weapon
Certain enemy job classes use what appears to be a flamethrower, or possibly some kind of plasma weapon given the weird colour of the "flames."
Rocket launcher
The rocket launcher model from previous Yakuza games, the-Panzerfaust 3-inspired model from Binary Domain with the warhead removed, is used in the go-kart side-quest. It may also be purchased as a battle item. It's seen with a man in tactical gear when Adachi summons him via Essence of Electromagnetic Storm.
Various fake weapons
The "Sniper Assailant" from the aforementioned substory appears to be a big fan of airsoft/fake weapons, as he has a shelving unit full of them in his room. This includes various models recycled from previous games, including the M134 Minigun, Tanegashima, and weird weapon-shop rifles.
Mounted weapons
Go-kart-mounted machine guns
In the "Dragon Kart" side quest, kart-mounted machine guns can be used to damage opponents' karts. The machine guns themselves appear to be retextured and comically undersized versions of the Browning M2HB model from Yakuza: Dead Souls.
"Orbital Laser"
Returning from Yakuza: Dead Souls, the "Orbital Laser" is made available to Kasuga as a reward for getting Ichiban Holdings to #1 in the share price rankings.
