The third season is created by Robert Kirkman and Glen Mazzara. Rick's group finds a new safe place in the form of a prison and tries to make a new home out of it, while Andrea and her new companion Michonne find themselves in the surviving settlement called Woodbury, led by "The Governor". Soon the two communities are forced to face off in a battle. The season consists of sixteen episodes and was premiered on October 14, 2012 on AMC.
NOTE: See the Discussion Page for the weapons used in "Cold Storage" webisode.
The following weapons were used in Season 3 of the television series The Walking Dead:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Revolvers
Colt Python
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) continues to use his six-inch barreled Colt Python in Season 3. He first carries it in a holster in "Seed" (S3E01) and then threatens inmates during a conflict in "Sick" (S3E02).
Colt Detective Special
Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies) continues to use the Colt Detective Special in Season 3. She carries or fires it at walkers in "Seed" (S3E01), "Sick" (S3E02) and "Killer Within" (S3E04).
Colt Official Police
Daryl continues to use the Colt Official Police revolver in Season 3, but it is only seen in a holster on his motorcycle in "Seed" (S3E01) and "Say The Word" (S3E05).
Pistols
Beretta 92FS
Along with his BDA, Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) uses a Beretta 92FS with a improvised suppressor during the Season 3. He shoots walkers in "Seed" (S3E01) during a sweep of the prison yard. In the same episode, the group find several pistols in the armory and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and T-Dog (IronE Singleton) are briefly seen handling one.
Browning BDA
Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) continues to carry a Browning BDA in Season 3. He briefly points the gun at a waking Hershel thinking he turned in "Sick" (S3E02).
Glock 17
Due to a continuity error at the beginning of "Seed" (S3E01), Glenn (Steven Yeun) carries the holstered Glock 17 instead of his 19.
Glock 19
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) continues to use T-Dog's Glock 19 with an improvised suppressor in "Seed" (S3E01). Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Hershel (Scott Wilson) also carry Glock 19s in "Seed" (S3E01).
SIG-Sauer P226
Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) uses the SIG-Sauer P226 in Season 3. She fires at walkers clearing the prison in "Seed" (S3E01) and later carries it holstered in "Sick" (S3E02), "Say the Word" (S3E05), and "Hounded" (S3E06).
Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith"
T-Dog (IronE Singleton) continues to carry Andrea's Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith" and fires it in "Seed" (S3E01).
Vektor CP1
Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) fires a Vektor CP1 at the begining of "Seed" (S3E01) clearing the prison from walkers. For unknown reasons, this is the only scene where the gun is used.
Submachine Guns
Rifles and Carbines
Colt M4A1
Clearing the prison yard of walkers at the beginning of "Seed" (S3E01) Hershel (Scott Wilson) is seen firing an M4A1 with an Aimpoint sight from a watchtower. Another carbine is also found among the weapons in the prison and is briefly handled by T-Dog (IronE Singleton) in the same episode.
WASR-10 UF
Caroll (Melissa McBride) is seen firing what appears to be an WASR-10 UF rifle with railed handguard from a prison watchtower in "Seed" (S3E01). Like the M4A1 above, this rifle was not among their weapons in the previous season, thus was most likely found in between Seasons 2 and 3, as the group was on the move for several months scavenging.
Sniper Rifles
Remington 700 VLS
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) uses Dale's Remington 700 VLS rifle with a Simmons ProHunter® scope again clearing the prison from walkers in "Seed" (S3E01). Carol also is seen with the rifle in "The Suicide King" (S3E09).
Springfield M1903 (Sporterized)
Clearing the prison yard Hershel (Scott Wilson) is briefly seen with a scoped Sporterized M1903 Springfield in "Seed" (S3E01). The rifle also used by Maggie in "I Ain't a Judas" (S3E11).
Shotguns
Machine Guns
Other Weapons
Horton Scout HD 125
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) continues to carry his Horton Scout HD 125 crossbow as his weapon of choice in Season 3 and uses it in "Seed" (S3E01).
TRIVIA: During filming of the bridge scene, Norman Reedus accidently broke the Horton Scout HD 125 buttstock when he hit the prop walker. Because of this and also with Reedus finding the Horton crossbow to be clunky and uncomfortable to use, he asked the writers for either a new crossbow or a dog, to which the former was picked, thus giving him the Stryker Strykezone 380.
Stun Grenades
After searching the prison in "Seed" (S3E01), Rick's group finds some stun grenades and later uses them during confrontations with Woodbury.
Weapons Cache & Arsenals
Rick's Bag of Guns
Rick briefly carries the bag with a Mossberg 500 and bolt action rifle in "Seed" (S3E01). Rick's bag of guns is seen once again in "The Suicide King" (S3E09) as the Governor inspects the guns still left in it.
