Work In Progress

This article is still under construction. It may contain factual errors. See Talk:Ghost Recon 2: 2007 First Contact for current discussions. Content is subject to change.

Ghost Recon 2: 2007 First Contact is the Gamecube/PS2 version of Ghost Recon 2: 2011 Final Assault for the Xbox. After the Gamecube/PS2 were found to be too weak to handle the Xbox version of the game, a dedicated version using a stripped-back engine was released for the Gamecube and PS2, this version is a prequel, set during the Korean War of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory with orignal missions and cutscenes.

This version has several notable gameplay changes, such as no manual saving, less weaponry and more linear missions, this version generally reviewed lower than the Xbox version due to less balanced difficulty and stripping the tactical elements even further back and the combined somewhat mixed reception of both ended up scrapping plans for any PC ports.

Pistol

Beretta M9

The Beretta M9 is presumably still the standard sidearm of the Ghosts and is called the "M9 SD", it is only ever available with a suppressor and is only seen being used by Mitchell as a secondary weapon if he doesn't have a grenade launcher equipped on his primary weapon when starting a mission. (Despite the suppressor, the game seems to lack any sort of stealth mechanics.)

Assault Rifles

Heckler & Koch XM29 OICW

The XM29 Objective Individual Combat Weapon appears in "Lone Wolf" missions, being carried by Mitchell, it has a low fire rate but high damage and the grenade launcher is inaccurately portrayed as holding only 1 grenade at a time.
