Resident Evil (2002 VG)
Resident Evil (often called Resident Evil: Remake or simply REmake within the fandom) is the 2002 third-person survival horror game remake of the original 1996 video game developed and published by Capcom. The remake was first released for the Nintendo Gamecube and the game retells the story of the original Resident Evil but with improved graphics, new environments, better voice acting, and closer ties to the chronologically later games in the series.
In 2014, Capcom announced, by popular demand, they'd be releasing what was initially a Nintendo-only title (the game having been ported, along with Resident Evil Zero to the Wii) for the current generation consoles and Steam; this HD Remaster was released on November 27th in Japan and January 20th in the US/EU.
The following weapons appear in the video game Resident Evil (2002 VG):
Handguns
Beretta 92FS "Samurai Edge"
The S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics And Rescue Service) standard-issue "Samurai Edge" custom Beretta 92FS Brigadier is featured in Resident Evil Remake (first introduced in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis), replacing the generic Beretta 92FS pistols from the original game as the player's starting weapon. They sport brigadier slides, custom wood and synthetic grips with the S.T.A.R.S. emblem on it, target sights, an extended slide catch, and a stainless steel barrel. Their slides are engraved with "S.T.A.R.S. - R.P.D. SPECIAL TEAM" on the left, and "Mod. SAMURAI EDGE. LAW ENFORCEMENT USE ONLY" on the right. Capcom identifies the weapon as an "M92F", which is incorrect because for one the base gun is a 92FS, and two Beretta does not use M-number designations.
The Samurai Edge is issued to all members of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha and Bravo teams. Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Albert Wesker, and Barry Burton own personalized Samurai Edge pistols, while the rest of S.T.A.R.S. carry the Standard Samurai Edge model.
The only usable 92FS Samurai Edge in-game is Jill's, identified by the blue medallion on the grip. During Chris's scenario, he loses his own Samurai Edge in the opening scene with the zombie dogs, and must use Jill's Samurai Edge after she drops it. Rebecca Chambers is armed with the standard Samurai Edge, but is incorrectly modeled after Jill's (Resident Evil 0 corrects this mistake). Wesker's Samurai Edge is a further modified two-tone version with a fictional stainless steel frame with a blocky-looking dustcover and an underbarrel rail system, a skeletonized hammer, an enlarged magazine release, and an extended beavertail. Barry Burton carries a .44 Magnum revolver as his main weapon, though a special 96FS .40 S&W Samurai Edge ostensibly owned by him can be unlocked for New Game playthroughs.
Killing zombies with the Samurai Edge can take several bullets, especially at higher difficulties. Each shot has a very low chance of inflicting a critical headshot (AKA decapitation), which prevents zombies from turning into Crimson Heads later on.
Silver Serpent (.44 Magnum and .357 Magnum versions)
Barry Burton carries a custom .44 Magnum revolver named "Silver Serpent" as his primary weapon in the Remake, replacing the generic Colt Python from the original. The revolver is a mixture of the Colt Python and Colt Anaconda. It has the tell-tale sign of being a Python by the single screw above the trigger, however its frame size and bore diameter is that of a Anaconda .44 Magnum. It features a bull barrel, a hefty underlug weight, an unfluted cylinder, and checkered wood grips. The ventilated rib of the base Python has been replaced with a solid top above the barrel.
Late in the game, an angry Jill disarms Barry of his revolver after he tries to point it at her, and just as Lisa Trevor arrives. The player can choose to either give the gun back to him, or keep it which leads to Barry's death as Lisa slugs him down a pit. (A non-canon scenario, as Barry lives on after RE1). No extra ammo can be found for the weapon.
In both Chris and Jill's scenarios, a near-identical revolver can be found inside a tombstone in the cemetery by collecting several emblems and putting them on designated slots in the area. This revolver is also named "Silver Serpent", but is chambered in .357 Magnum, features smooth grips, and has a slightly shorter barrel. This weapon serves as the player's standard Magnum, and a limited amount of .357 Magnum rounds can be found throughout the game.
The .357 Magnum Silver Serpent is very powerful: killing most enemies in one shot, and will eliminate the Tyrant's first form in five shots. It has a high chance of decapitating zombies. The .44 Magnum Silver Serpent is even more powerful, as it one-shots the Tyrant's first form, and has an even higher chance of zombie decapitation. The strong recoil of both revolvers will cause Jill to stagger and back down after firing.
Beretta 96FS "Samurai Edge"
A special "Samurai Edge" chambered in .40 S&W, modified with a frame extension w/ accessory rails, longer barrel, compensator, and extended magazine, can be unlocked for use as a "New Game+" weapon by beating the game on Normal or Hard difficulty in under 5 hours. The pistol is ostensibly owned by Barry Burton, though he never actually uses it in-game.
Some sources have stated that Barry rechambered his 9mm 92FS-based Samurai Edge to .40 S&W, which would make the weapon's original identity a 92FS Samurai Edge; however, for IMFDB's identification purposes, the pistol is identified as a .40 S&W Beretta 96 due to its present mechanical identity.
As a deliberately overpowered "New Game+" weapon, it has unlimited ammunition and does not need to be reloaded. It is fired in a somewhat strange "fake 3-round burst" mode; every press of the fire key will make the player character fire 3 rounds, but at almost the same fire rate as the normal Samurai Edge. This likely means that the player character literally pulls the trigger three times every time the fire key is pressed.
Chiappa Double Eagle Derringer
A Chiappa Double Eagle Derringer chambered in .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire can be found in the Guard House behind the mansion. It only has one round loaded as the other round was used by its previous owner in a futile attempt to stop a friend from zombifying. Despite the .22 Magnum being only as powerful as the 9x19mm cartridge in real life, the in-game version has power on par with the .357 Magnum Silver Serpent, meaning it will kill normal enemies in one shot.
Beretta 92FS (stock)
The standard Beretta 92FS is seen in the Result Screen when finishing the game with Chris' BSAA outfit from Resident Evil 5. It is identified as a standard Beretta since it has no brigadier slide and lacks the wooden grip panels. It also has a laser sight that Chris' Beretta in RE5 has.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1897
A high-end Winchester Model 1897 shotgun with rifle sights is found on the first floor on the east side of the mansion, replacing the Remington 870 from the original Resident Evil. The weapon is booby trapped, but is easily acquired by exchanging the shotgun for a broken one, thereby keeping the trap (a crushing ceiling) from being triggered. This weapon can also be acquired without the broken shotgun in Jill's scenario, as Barry will rescue Jill from the ceiling crusher by shooting out the lock on the room and dragging Jill out before she can "fit into a sandwich."
When the shotgun is aimed upwards, it has a random chance of decapitating zombies with each shot (at a higher rate than the handgun, but less than the magnum). Both Chris and Jill hold the weapon at the hip in normal gameplay, however Chris also aims it from the shoulder during the Yawn, Plant-42 and Tyrant battles.
Benelli M3 Super 90
This stainless-steel pump-action shotgun, called "Assault Shotgun" in-game, belongs to Richard Aiken from S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team. It is a custom Benelli M3 with elements from the Benelli M4 added to it, notably the collapsible stock and the top rail on the receiver. This weapon can only be acquired if the player manages to get Richard the serum after he's been poisoned by the giant snake Yawn. Like the 1897, both Chris and Jill normally hold the weapon at the hip, though Chris also aims it at the shoulder during the Yawn, Plant-42 and Tyrant battles. It incorrectly holds 10 rounds instead of the proper 7.
Mossberg 590
In the intro, Joseph Frost's personal long arm is a Mossberg 590 with ghost ring sights, heat shield, and a flashlight. This gun is never used in the gameplay.
Other
Hybrid Grenade Launcher
Featured only in Jill's scenario is a six round grenade launcher that can use a variety of shells, but with limited range. The weapon is found next to the dead body of Bravo team member Forest Speyer. The weapon is a combination of parts from the Arwen 37 and M4A1 carbine.
M202 FLASH
The M202 FLASH is thrown down by Brad Vickers in the final boss fight against the Tyrant to destroy the monster once and for all. The weapon appears to have been referenced from the prop M202 from Commando rather than a real one, and has a front pistol grip and an MP5-like trigger unit.
Infinite Rocket Launcher
After completing the game in less than three hours on Normal difficulty or higher, the game awards the player with an infinite-ammo Rocket Launcher. Rather than an infinite-ammo M202 FLASH like the original Resident Evil, the infinite rocket launcher is instead a hodgepodge of many different weapons.
Flame Thrower
This weapon is only available to Chris Redfield. It's found in the caves area and works well against spiders, however it is needed to unlock doors and thus cannot be carried outside the caves. In Jill's story, she instead finds a broken Flame Thrower which is needed to complete a puzzle. If the player makes the right choices, however, Barry Burton can also be seen using it against Plant 42 in Jill's scenario. The Flame Thrower's model is based on a mixture of the flame throwers from the films Alien and Aliens.
Bonus
Grenade
Fictional hand grenades inspired by the M7 CS gas grenade can be found by Chris Redfield in his scenario. Like the daggers and stun guns, grenades function as self defense items, meaning Chris will shove one in a zombie's mouth when he is grabbed from the front. The resulting explosion will decapitate the zombie and damage anything near it (including the player). They cannot be thrown.
