The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

The following weapons were used in the film The Lost World: Jurassic Park:

SPOILERS.jpg WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Rifles

LAR Grizzly Big Boar (modified as a tranquilizer gun and grapple gun)

Roland Tembo (Pete Postlethwaite) is seen in the film using an LAR Grizzly Big Boar, made out to be a single shot tranquilizer gun. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore) is later seen using the same weapon to shoot the T. rex while in San Diego. Some of the hunters are also seen using LAR Grizzlies, outfitted with dual pully drums and made to look like grapple firing guns.

Sarah (Julianne Moore) fires the LAR Grizzly Big Boar at the T. rex. Note the large gas tank, made out to be the main firing source of the rifle.

Searcy Double Barrel Rifle

Roland Tembo (Pete Postlethwaite) keeps a .600 Nitro Express double barreled rifle, a large caliber rifle popularized in the early 1900's by ivory hunters (Holland & Holland being one of the more well-known makers of such weapons). These rifles are often referred to simply as a "double," referencing the two barrels per single rifle. Double rifles are the favored rifle for African professional hunters as the two barrels allow for a quick follow-up shot on animals without having to reload.

The weapon seen in this film was manufactured by B. Searcy & Co. of Boron, CA. Two rifles were made for the production of this movie. Steven Spielberg is said to own one of them himself. The location of the other is unknown. Both rifles made for the movie are real and fully functional. As with all double rifles, the intense amount of time and labor to make them dictates a price tag of several tens-of-thousands of dollars. A plastic model was made as well for stand-ins when the real rifle, which is heavy, was not necessary.

Roland's .600 nitro rifle rests against a tree. His neglect to keep it close leads to Nick Owen (Vince Vaughn) pulling the bullets, leaving empty, useless shells.

Heckler & Koch HK91A2

Dieter Stark (Peter Stormare) carries a Heckler & Koch HK91A2 with a Surefire 660 entry light and telescopic sight attached but is never actually used. Some of the other hunters are also seen using HK rifles and a police sniper is seen hanging out a chopper door with one.

Winchester Model 70

Ajay (Harvey Jason) carries a Winchester Model 70 rifle as his weapon of choice through out the film, but never fires it.

AKMS

One of the hunters is seen firing an AKMS variant while being chased by the T. rex. It appears to have the early East German "Crutch" folding stock.

Other

Lindstradt Tranquilizer Rifle

Eddy Carr (Richard Schiff) is seen using a bolt-action tranquilizer rifle with the name "Lindstradt" clearly shown on the side and a thread-on barrel. Even though the layout is similar to the Dan-Inject IM, It`s based mostly on the Anschutz 1913 Super Match target rifle. It also features a Bushnell HOLOsight 400. It is the weapon of choice for Eddie but he never fires it. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) is also seen holding this gun in some scenes.

Eddy readies the tranq. rifle when a group of Stegosaurus approach Sarah (Julianne Moore). It is fitted with an optical sight, which appears to be a Bushnell HOLOsight 400; while it may seem strange to fit a rifle with a close-range sight, the weapon is only being used for personal defense and so does not need any kind of long-range optics.
Eddy attempts to pull up the tranq. gun to use on some Tyrannosaurs, but the front blade sight gets stuck in the camouflage netting, resulting in his demise.

Dan Inject Model JM

Some of the hunters are seen using these Danish-made, CO2 powered Dan Inject Model JM.

Shotguns

Franchi SPAS-12

One of the hunters is armed with a Franchi SPAS-12 fitted with a tactical flashlight. This same shotgun is later glimpsed in the hands of an InGen worker who is examining the male T. rex's cage as the animal is being prepared for transport.

Handguns
