Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is a 2007 rail shooter, developed by Capcom and Cavia for the Wii, the game was included in 2012 (alongside its sequel Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles) in the Resident Evil Chronicles HD Collection for the PlayStation 3. This game is a spinoff of the Resident Evil video game series and is set during the events of Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil Remake, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and an exclusive scenario set one year before Resident Evil 4, in form of recollections of events from Umbrella archives.
The first scenario called "Train Derailment" based on Resident Evil 0 follows Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen, the second scenario called "Mansion Incident" based on Resident Evil Remake follows Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, the third scenario called "Raccoon's Destruction" based on Resident Evil 3: Nemesis follows Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira, the fourth scenario called "Umbrella's End" based on new material follows Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield during the assault on Umbrella's last stronghold in Russia. Some bonus scenarios can be unlocked featuring Albert Wesker, Ada Wong, Hunk and Richard Aiken.
All weapons featured in the game are reused models from Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil Remake, Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Outbreak. No weapon appears in the player's hands, they only appear on the HUD, pickups and grenades, some appears during cutscenes. All handguns have the same power and feature infinite ammo.
The following weapons appear in the video game Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles:
Pistols
Beretta 92FS Brigadier "Samurai Edge"
The S.T.A.R.S standard-issue custom Beretta 92FS Brigadier is called the "Samurai Edge 2", this is Rebecca (during the "Train Derailment" and "Nightmare" scenarios), Jill (during the "Mansion Incident", "Raccoon's Destruction" and "Umbrella's End" scenarios), Chris (during the "Mansion Incident" and "Umbrella's End" scenarios), Richard (during the "Nightmare" scenario) and Wesker (during the "Beginnings" and "Rebirth" scenarios)'s main weapons.
It seems that only one Samurai Edge model have been modeled for pre-rendered cinematics, as all S.T.A.R.S. have the same gun despite Jill, Chris and Wesker having different ones. By judging from the cross color and the medaillon it seems to be the standard model of the Samurai Edge. Wesker also incorrectly used the standard model during the all pre-rendered cinematics instead of his distinctive two-toned gun. However during gameplay he correctly have his own gun but without attachments. It reuses the same 3D model as in Resident Evil 0.
Wesker's Model
Beretta 93R
The Beretta 93R is called the "Burst Handgun", this is Ada's main weapon during the "Death's Door" scenario. Compared to all other handguns this one feature a 3-round burst fire mode. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil Outbreak. Strangely during pre-rendered cinematics her Beretta 93R switch to a Beretta 92FS, this can be seen due to the lack of extended barrel, front grip and the presence of a fire selector which wasn't present on the 93R.
Heckler & Koch VP70M
The Heckler & Koch VP70 is called the "Matilda", this is Hunk's main weapon during the "The Fourth Survivor" scenario. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil 4 but without the stock and 3-round burst capacity.
M1911-type Pistol
Billy Coen's two-toned M1911-type pistol is called the "Handgun", this is Billy's main weapon during the "Train Derailment" scenario. It reuses the same M1911/Beretta 92F hybrid 3D model as the "Army Handgun" in Resident Evil 0. Strangely the handgun don't appear in any pre-rendered cutscenes, being replaced by the "Silver Serpent".
"Magnum"
The M1911-type magnum is called the "Magnum AT", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Beginnings 1" scenario. This is the weakest Magnum of the game but it compensates its weak firepower by a high capacity and reload time. It reuses the same 3D model as in Resident Evil 0.
Mauser C96 "Red 9"
The Mauser C96 "Red 9" with shoulder stock only appears in the hands of Sergei Vladimir during cinematics and can't be used ingame. It reuses the same 3D model as the "Red9" in Resident Evil 4.
SIG-Sauer P228
The SIG-Sauer P228 is called the "Handgun SG", this is Carlos's main weapon during the "Raccoon's Destruction" scenario. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil Outbreak. It replaces the anachronistic SIG Pro SP 2009, that Carlos used in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
"Silver Ghost"
The H&K USP, S&W Sigma, and Ruger P85 hybrid is called the "Handgun w/ Silencer", this is Wesker's main weapon during the "Dark Legacy" scenario. Compared to all other handguns this one have a silencer but it changes nothing about its firepower. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil 4, Wesker used this weapon in Mercenaries mode.
Revolvers
"Silver Serpent"
The Colt Python/Anaconda hybrid is called the "Magnum Revolver", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Nightmare 2" scenario. This magnum has the ability to pierce multiple targets. It uses a slightly altered 3D model of the revolver in Resident Evil Remake. It can be seen in Billy's hand during pre-rendered cinematics instead of his Army Handgun.
Smith & Wesson Model 500
The Smith & Wesson Model 500 is called the "Hand Cannon", the weapon was first obtainable in the "The Fourth Survivor" scenario. This is the strongest Magnum and the second strongest weapon of the game only beaten by the Anti-Tank Gun. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil 4.
Shotguns
Benelli M3 Super 90 (Custom)
The custom Benelli M3 is called the "Assault Shotgun", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Nightmare 1" scenario. This is the strongest shotgun and has a slow reload time and low ammo capacity. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil Remake.
Cobray Street Sweeper / Armsel Protecta Hybrid
The SWD/Cobray Street Sweeper and Armsel Protecta hybrid is called the "Shotgun SA", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Umbrella End 1" scenario. This is the weakest shotgun but it sports an increased ammo capacity. It reuses the same 3D model as in Resident Evil 4.
Winchester Model 1897
The Winchester Model 1897 is called the "Shotgun", the weapon was unlocked from the beginning. This is an average shotgun more effective at close range. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil Remake.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5
The heavily altered Heckler & Koch MP5 is called the "Submachine Gun", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Trail Derailment 1" scenario. This is an average SMG balancing firepower and ammo capacity. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil 0.
Heckler & Koch MP5A2
The Heckler & Koch MP5A2 is called the "Submachine Gun HP", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Beginnings 2" scenario. This is the strongest SMG but has the lowest ammo capacity. It reuses the same 3D model as in Resident Evil Outbreak.
Steyr TMP
The Steyr TMP is called the "Automatic Pistol", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Umbrella End 2" scenario. This is the weakest SMG, but compensates by having the higher fire rate and ammo capacity. It reuses the same 3D model as in Resident Evil 4.
Launchers
Fictional Rocket Launcher RE0
This fictional rocket launcher is called the "Rocket Launcher", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Beginnings 2" scenario. This is the weakest rocket laucher but sports a decent fire rate and capacity. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil 0.
FIM-92 Stinger
Nemesis is still equipped with his rocket laucher based on a FIM-92 Stinger lacking its optics and antenna but much longer than the original. Like in Resident Evil 2 and 3, it is erroneously depicted as simply being a direct fire rocket launcher. Nemesis only use it when fighting Jill and Carlos in the Police Station main hall in the "Raccoon's Destruction 3" scenario.
Hybrid Grenade Launcher RE1
The ARWEN 37 and M4A1 carbine hybrid is called the "Grenade Launcher", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Rebirth 2" scenario. This is an average grenade launcher, perfect for clearing out groups. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil Remake.
Hybrid Grenade Launcher RE0
The ARWEN 37, DefTech 37mm launcher and Milkor MGL hybrid is called the "Grenade Launcher AT", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Trail Derailment 3" scenario. This grenade launcher has an increased blast radius, perfect for crowd control. It reuses the same 3D model as in Resident Evil 0.
M79
The M79 is called the "Grenade Launcher HP", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Death's Door" scenario. It has a smaller blast radius and ammo than others but deals serious damages. It reuses the same 3D model as in Resident Evil Outbreak.
M202 FLASH
The M202 FLASH is called the "MRL", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Mansion Incident 3" scenario. This rocket launcher have a slow reload time but has the largest ammo capacity of all rocket launchers. It reuses the same 3D model as in Resident Evil Remake, still using as reference the fake M202 from Commando.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 is called the "Anti-tank Gun", the weapon was first obtainable in the "Dark Legacy 2" scenario. This is the strongest weapon of the game but has a very low ammo capacity. It reuses the same 3D model and name as in Resident Evil 4.
Grenades
M67 Hand Grenade
The M67 Hand Grenade is called the "Grenade" in-game. it can be acquired in any levels and is quite good for crowd control.
Others
Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23
Two Mi-24VP Hind-E helicopters from the Private Anti-Biohazard Service are equipped with a chin-mounted Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23 twin-barrel gun. During the "Umbrella's End 1" scenario opening a Hind is seen obliterating three Hunters BOW with its autocannon.
