Judith is a 1966 American-British-Israeli war drama directed by Daniel Mann, starring Sophia Loren, Peter Finch and Jack Hawkins.

In 1948, in the last days of British Mandatory Palestine, holocaust survivor Judith Auerbach Schiller (Sophia Loren) is bought to the nascent state of Israel to help Israeli forces find her husband, former Wehrmacht Panzer commander General Gustav Schiller (Hans Verner). Schiller has been training Arab forces, and the Haganah (the Zionist militia that was the forerunner of the modern Israel Defense Forces) needs her help locating and eliminating him. Judith, however, has her motivations: finding where Schiller has taken their son, Karl.

M4A3(76)W Sherman HVSS

The Syrian Army uses an American M4A3(76)W Sherman HVSS during the final battle. Syria never used any Sherman variant at any point in its history. During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Syria used the French Renault R35 and upgunned R39 tanks. As this film was filmed on location in Israel, which extensively used Sherman variants, it can be assumed the tank seen in the film was an active duty IDF Sherman.

The "Syrian" tank, which still has visible Hebrew lettering and a Star of David symbol, with only a Syrian flag added to the turret to help it portray a Syrian tank.
