Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb
The following weapons were used in the video game Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb:
Handguns
Smith & Wesson M1917
Referred to as the “Revolver.” The S&W M1917 is Indy’s primary sidearm throughout the game, which is consistent with the Smith & Wesson revolvers he uses in Raiders of the Lost Ark. It is the most powerful handgun in the game, taking down most enemies in only two shots. The revolver is also used by ivory hunters in Ceylon. It becomes less usable later in the game as ammo becomes more scarce.
Luger P08
Referred to as the “Luger.” The Luger P08 is carried by Gestapo agents in Prague and is briefly brandished by Von Beck in the final Ceylon cutscene. It is always fitted with a suppressor and carries 7 rounds in a magazine, as opposed to 8 rounds in real life.
Mauser C96 "Red 9"
Referred to simply as the “Mauser”. The Mauser C96 "Red 9" is depicted as the standard sidearm of German soldiers and is also used by Chinese gangsters in Hong Kong. It is modeled with a 10-round internal magazine but holds only 8 rounds at a time.
Shotguns
Coach Gun
Referred to as the “Shotgun.” The coach gun is carried by ivory hunters in Ceylon and Chinese gangsters in Hong Kong. It is powerful at close range, capable of blowing enemies off their feet, but quickly loses effectiveness at long distances.
Submachine Guns
MP40
Referred to as the “MP-40 SMG.” In typical Hollywood fashion, the MP40 is widely carried by German soldiers as well as by Gestapo agents in Prague, Turkish thugs in Istanbul, and motorcycle gangsters in Hong Kong. It has a high rate of fire and is effective at close to mid-range.
The weapon’s appearance in this timeframe is anachronistic, as the game takes place before the events of Temple of Doom in 1935. The MP40 and its visually similar predecessor, the MP38, were not yet in production at the time.
M1928 Thompson
The M1928 Thompson is used by Indy during the rickshaw chase in Hong Kong. It is modelled with a 100-round drum magazine but holds only 50 rounds. It is also briefly seen used by a motorcycle gangster in a cutscene.
Strangely, the Thompson in the cutscene has some detail to it, but the first-person gameplay version becomes a less-detailed blocky version.
Machine Guns
MG 34
The MG 34 machinegun with spade grips is found on a pintle mount at several points throughout the game. Its use is required in the level “Terror at 2,000 Feet” to shoot down attacking German fighters. It has infinite ammo, despite being modeled without an ammo belt.
Launchers
Panzerschreck
A Panzerschreck can be found in a secret room in “The Secret of Peng Lai Lagoon: Part 2”. It does major explosive damage on impact. While the weapon bears the general appearance of a Panzerschreck, it features an oversized charge protruding from the front of the weapon similar to a Panzerfaust. Both weapons would be anachronistic in the game’s setting.
Explosives
Model 24 Stielhandgranate
The Model 24 Stielhandgranate is occasionally found in ammo crates and being used by German soldiers and Turkish thugs.
Demo Charge
Indy uses demolition charges at various points to clear obstacles, create paths, or reveal secret areas. The charges are comprised of two clusters of dynamite and, oddly, both a fuse and clock timer.
Other
Flamethrower
German security troopers in trench coats and gasmasks are armed with flamethrowers. They are unusable by Indy. Oddly, they do not resemble any period appropriate German flamethrowers. The tank group weakly resembles that of the Italian Lanciafiamme Modello 35, while the gun group is a two handled variant vaguely similar to that of the US M2.
Speargun
German divers use a seemingly-fictional 3-shot pneumatic speargun built off of the game's Thompson model. While ineffective on land, it is very effective underwater against both divers and sharks. A special gold version, called the Super Speargun, is used during the fight against the Kraken beneath Istanbul. It holds 300 shots and has a higher rate of fire than the normal speargun.
Chu-ko-nu crossbow
Some of the Chinese guards at the Black Dragon Fortress are armed with Chu-ko-nu repeating crossbows. While accurate and quiet, they have limited range and damage.
