Heckler & Koch HK45

The HK45 is a .45 ACP pistol derived from the H&K USP, the P2000, and the ill-fated HK1911 program and was Heckler & Koch's entry into the U.S. military's Joint Combat Pistol program to replace the Beretta M9 pistol in service, although the program was "suspended indefinitely" in 2006 and no winner was chosen. It has a new grip designed to sit lower in the hand (a problem with the USP was it sat too high), an M1911 style safety and holds 10+1 rounds of .45 ACP in the magazine. The HK45CT has been adopted by United States Naval Special Warfare units in limited numbers as the Mk 24 Mod 0 Combat Assault Pistol.
