Superman: The Movie
Superman: The Movie is the 1978 film adaptation of the DC comics series. The film was directed by Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon) and starred Marlon Brando as Superman's father Jor-El, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and Christopher Reeve as Superman/Clark Kent. An extended version of the film was released on DVD in 2001. Reeve would return as the Man of Steel in three sequels: Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. The 2006 semi-sequel Superman Returns was directed by Bryan Singer and starred Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel.

Metropolis Police officers are seen armed with Smith & Wesson Model 15 revolvers when exchanging gunfire with thieves during a car chase.
MAC-10
During the car chase, several thieves are armed with what appear to be suppressed MAC-10's.

M1911A1
A US Army soldier is briefly seen with an M1911A1 holstered.
Sterling L2A3
In the extended version, remote-controlled Sterling L2A3 submachine guns are used by Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) when he tests if Superman is immune to bullets.
