Richard Roundtree (July 9, 1942 - October 24, 2023) has over 160 credits as an actor in film and television in a career spanning 1971 to 2023. He worked as a model and performed in theatre for several years. His first film role was the title character in Shaft. This role made him a star, and established Blaxploitation films as a recognized genre in the Hollywood film industry.
