Hannibal was a television psychological crime series created by Bryan Fuller (one of the co-executive producers of Heroes) and was based on the characters introduced in the Thomas Harris novel Red Dragon, which had been previously adapted into the 2002 film of the same name) as well as the 1986 Michael Mann-directed film Manhunter. The series followed FBI Investigator Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) as he is returned to active duty by his superior, Special Agent Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne), due to his unique ability to recreate heinous murders in his mind. The series focused as well on the brilliant Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), who befriends Graham (both Dancy and Mikkelsen portrayed knights in director Antoine Fuqua's King Arthur). The series premiered in the US on NBC in April of 2013 and aired for three seasons until 2015.
