Revision as of 23:29, 9 January 2017
The following weapons appear in the video game Project Reality: Falklands:
NOTE: For the original game, see Battlefield 2.
Pistols
Browning Hi-Power
The Browning Hi-Power is used by the British faction under the designation "L9A1" with synthetic grips. The Argentinian faction uses the classic Hi-Power with target sights. It is used by the Officer, Pilot and Sniper classes only.
Submachine Guns
M3 "Grease Gun"
The Argentinian faction uses the M3 "Grease Gun". In-game it is referred to as the Halcón ML-63, a real-life submachine gun used by the Argentinians during the Falklands. (It would be more accurate to call it the P.A.M. 1, the 9mm Argentinian variant of the Grease Gun).
Sterling L2A3
The British faction uses the Sterling L2A3 submachine gun, replacing the anachronistic MP5A3 from previous versions. It can be fired either semi or full-automatic.
Rifles
FN FAL
The main service rifle of the Argentinians in-game is the FN FAL, under the designation FM FAL (FM being an abbreviation, "Fabricaciones Militares", the Argentinian plant that built the FN for the government).
L1A1
The main weapon of the British faction is the L1A1 Self Loading Rifle (commonly known as the SLR). The British Marksman class use an L1A1 fitted with an L2A2 SUIT 4x scope.
Sniper Rifles
L42A1 sniper rifle
The British Sniper class uses the L42A1 sniper rifle, replacing the out-of-date Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I(T) from previous versions.
M21 Sniper Rifle
The Argentinian Marksman class uses the M21 Sniper Rifle.
Steyr SSG 69
The Steyr SSG 69 is used by the Argentinian Sniper class, fitted with a bipod. It is referred to in-game as the "SSG-P1".
Machine Guns
Bren L4A1
The British automatic rifleman class uses the Bren L4A4. It can be either fired from the hip or deployed on a bipod. Note that the Bren L4 is the only machine gun in the Project Reality universe that can be fired either semi or full-automatic.
Browning Automatic Rifle
The Browning Automatic Rifle is used the Argentinian automatic rifleman class. It is intended as a temporary placeholder until the development of the FN FALO. It can either fired from the hip or deployed on a bipod. In-game, instead of the player being able to select-fire, the B.A.R fires at 450rpm undeployed and 600rpm deployed.
FN MAG 58
The FN MAG 58 is used by the Argentinian Machine Gunner class, and mounted inside houses for static defense. The UH-1 Iroquois helicopter used by the Argentinian faction has a MAG 58 mounted for the door gunner. The mounted MAG 58 has flipped-up anti-aircraft sights for better accuracy. The MAG 58 is also incorrectly modelled with the carry handle of the British L7 mentioned below.
L7A2 GPMG
The British faction uses the L7A2 GPMG for the machine gunner class. The RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats) available to the British faction has a mounted L7A2 with flipped-up anti-aircraft sights.
Mounted Weapons
ADEN Cannon
The ADEN Cannon is mounted on the Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.3 and the Sea Harrier FRS1 used by the British faction.
Browning M2HB
The British and Argentinian factions can deploy machine gun nests with Browning M2HB heavy machine guns, mounted on the M3 tripod.
DEFA Cannon
The DEFA Cannon is fitted on the Argentinian Dassault Mirage IIIEA fighter jet.
Colt Mk 12 Cannon
The Colt Mk 12 cannon appears in the game as the secondary armament on Argentinian A-4 Skyhawk attack aircraft.
Hispano.Suiza HS.404
The Hispano.Suiza HS.404 is mounted on the Douglas A-1H Skyraider used by the Argentinians, despite that country never operating it in real-life.
KPV Heavy Machine Gun
The KPV Heavy Machine Gun is used as a mounted Anti-Air weapon by the Argentinian faction, as part of a ZPU-4 quad mount. This is somewhat odd, as the Argentine forces typically used large single or double-barrel AA guns.
L37A1 Machine Gun
The L37A1 Machine Gun, the British version of the M240C, is mounted on the FV101 Scorpion and FV107 Scimitar Armored Reconnaissance Vehicles.
M61 Vulcan
The M61 Vulcan is mounted on the M167 VADS (Vulcan Air Defence System) Anti-Air platform incorrectly used by the British faction; the British never adopted VADS.
Phalanx CIWS
The Phalanx CIWS (Close-In Weapons System), fitted with the M61 Vulcan, is mounted on the HMS Invincible. This appearance is anachronistic however, as firstly the Phalanx CIWS was not fitted to HMS Invincible until after the Falklands, and secondly the variant featured in game is the Block 1B model which was not introduced until 1999.
MILAN
The MILAN is used as a stationary anti-tank mount by the British faction.
SPG-9 Recoilless Rifle
The SPG-9 Recoilless Rifle is used by the Argentinians as a stationary anti-tank mount, firing both HEAT and HE-Frag rounds.
SA-18 Grouse
The SA-18 Grouse is mounted on a twin turret for use by the Argentinian faction. The launcher is taken directly from previous games and should not really be shown used by Argentine forces.
L16 Mortar
Both the British and Argentinian factions use the L16 Mortar, mounted in foxholes for fire support. The weapon uses the same model as the later US-made M252 variant. These mortars fire high-explosive and smoke rounds. The high-explosive rounds can be configured for either ground-detonation or airburst, the latter spreading shrapnel over a wider distance.
Launchers
M79 Grenade Launcher
Both the British and Argentinian Grenadier class uses the M79 Grenade Launcher, firing both high-explosive and smoke rounds.
M72A2 LAW
The M72A2 LAW is used by the British Light-Antitank Class.
M20 "Super Bazooka"
Both the British and Argentinian Antitank Classes use the M20 "Super Bazooka".
FIM-92A Stinger
The FIM-92A Stinger is used by the British Anti-Air class, both man-portable and mounted in a twin turret. While the SAS had access to Stingers, only six were used during the conflict, and just one of these with any result; a more correct (though equally ineffective) weapon for the British forces would be the Blowpipe SAM.
SA-7 Grail
The Argentinian Anti-Air class uses the SA-7 Grail. Argentine forces had access to SA-7s during the conflict, having purchased them from Libya, but there is no record of them being used during the Falklands war. Like the British, the Argentine forces used the Blowpipe SAM, with similarly little effect.
Mines
M15 Anti-Tank Mine
The British Combat Engineer faction uses the M15 Anti-Tank Mine.
M18A1 Claymore
The M18A1 Claymore is used by the British Antipersonnel class.
MON-50 Anti-Personnel Mine
The MON-50 Anti-Personnel Mine is used by the Argentinians.
TM-62 Anti-Tank Mine
The Argentinian faction Combat Engineer is equipped with a TM-62 Anti-Tank Mine.
Grenades
L2A2 Hand Grenade
The L2A2 Hand Grenade is used by the British faction.
M67 Hand Grenade
The Argentinian faction uses the M67 Hand Grenade.
M18 Smoke Grenade
Both factions use the M18 Smoke Grenade.
M83 Smoke Grenade
Both the British and Argentinian faction uses the M83 Smoke Grenade.
AN/M14 Incendiary Grenade
The AN/M14 Incendiary Grenade is used by the British and Argentinian factions. Although mostly used as an anti-materiel grenade, it can be used against infantry.
