The Beretta M3P is an Italian shotgun with a choice of semi-auto or pump-action fire, and fed from detachable box magazines. It was allegedly presented to compete with the Franchi SPAS-15, but ultimately never gained widespread popularity. By 1994, it was decided to abandon the M3P as Beretta's main tactical model, in favor of the more conventional RS-202 M1. The design was apparently also passed on to Benelli, who based it on the more familiar M3.
