The General's Daughter (1999)
The General's Daughter is the 1999 feature film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Nelson DeMille. William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,Marathon Man, All the President's Men, Misery)wrote the adaptation. The film stars John Travolta as a Chief Warrant Officer / CID Agent with the United States Army's Criminal Investigation Division Command (USACIDC) who is assigned to a murder case that involves the daughter of a highly respected US Army General. The film was directed by Simon West, and the cast includes Madeleine Stowe, Timothy Hutton, James Woods, and James Cromwell.

Beretta 92FS
Chief Warrant Officer Four Paul Brenner (John Travolta) uses a Beretta 92FS when working undercover as Sgt. Frank White. Other Army personnel also carry the Beretta (in lieu of the Army issue Beretta M9) including Colonel William Kent (Timothy Hutton).
The Beretta is illuminated by lightning.

While working officially for Army CID, CW3 Paul Brenner (John Travolta) and his partner CW2 Sara Sunhill (Madeleine Stowe) carry the SIG-Sauer P228 as their sidearm throughout the film.

Rifles & Carbines
M16A2 Rifle
The rifles seen in the hands of the US Army soldiers in the film are M16A2 rifles. Belling (Peter Weireter) is seen looking one over before buying it. Cadets on a training exercise also carry the rifle. Upon close inspection, most of the M16A2s in the movie are actually Olympic Arms K4B copies.
A pair of M16A2 rifles in a crate; the top one is fitted with a Cobray CM203 flare launcher while the bottom one is equipped with an M203 grenade launcher. Note that the receiver markings on both weapons indicate that they are Olympic Arms guns, rather than Colt guns.

Peter Weireter was a member of LAPD SWAT and a hostage negotiator (which explains the perfect weapons handling and trigger discipline).

Olympic Arms K3B CAR
A trooper in the search party is seen carrying a XM177-style carbine, which is actually the civilian Olympic Arms K3B CAR clone.
Olympic Arms K3B CAR carbine - 5.56x45mm NATO. This is Olympic Arms' XM177 look-a-like variation for the civilian market, featuring an 11.5" heavy barrel and 5.5" flash hider, and was available with either A1, A1E1, or A2-style upper receivers (the latter is shown here). This weapon is a common stand-in for the XM177 in Hollywood productions made in the 1990s.

Mini Uzi
Belling (Peter Weireter) uses a suppressed Mini Uzi in an attempt on Brenner's life. While Weireter is an experienced SWAT officer, there is a strong possibility that he closed his eyes to protect himself from the pyrotechnic charges.
