Death Wish 3 is the third installment in the Death Wish film series. In this 1985 sequel, following the rape and / or murder of pretty much everyone he has ever associated with, Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson), aka "The Vigilante", finds himself battling street punks in order to bring peace back to a once quiet New York neighborhood. Despite the New York setting, the film was actually made in England.
The following weapons were used in the film Death Wish 3:
Handguns
Wildey Hunter
Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) takes delivery of a mail-order Wildey Hunter with an 8" barrel and uses it as his main weapon for the remainder of the film: in real life, the gun was Bronson's personal pistol. The gun is said to be chambered for .475, which, in line with the action movie arms race of the 80s, is specifically pointed out to be larger than .44 Magnum to show that Kersey is packing more heat than Dirty Harry. The round is said to be "a shorter version of the African big game cartridge" implying it is not a pistol cartridge, which isn't particularly true: while the parent case of .475 Wildey is indeed a rifle case (.284 Winchester) this is not a cartridge that sees much use in big game hunting in Africa (it was used primarily for hunting deer and elk in the US and Canada, and never really caught on), and the .475 round itself is the same length as a .45 Winchester Magnum and very much a pistol cartridge.
Colt Cobra
Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) carries a Colt Cobra throughout the film. He uses it along with a Wildey Hunter. Near the end of the film, several gang members also use this gun during the final shootout.
Colt New Service
A Colt New Service is seen used by gang members.
Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose
A Smith & Wesson Model 19 Snub Nose revolver is by Richard Shriker (Ed Lauter) during the final shootout.
Smith & Wesson Model 15
A Smith & Wesson Model 15 revolver is seen in the hands of a civilian during the final shootout.
Browning Hi-Power
Manny Fraker (Gavan O'Herlihy) uses a Browning Hi-Power during the later half of the film.
Walther P38
A Walther P38 is seen used by several gang members.
M1911
A M1911 pistol is seen in the hands of a civilian during the final shootout.
Submachine Guns
MAC-10
Manny uses a MAC-10 as his main weapon in most of the film.
Sterling
At least one gang member is seen using the Sterling SMG during the final shootout.
Machine Guns
Browning M1919A4
Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) and his neighbor Rodriguez (Joseph Gonzalez) use a Browning M1919A4 to kill several gang members before it runs out of ammo. Both the Browning M1919 and the MG42 belonged to Kersey's deceased Korean War buddy Charley, who apparently acquired the weapons during his stint in the military.
MG42
Bennett (Martin Balsam) attempts to use Charley's MG42 to kill a crowd of gang members. Unfortunately for Bennett the weapon malfunctions and he is unable to fire a single shot.
Shotguns
Remington 870
A Remington 870 Folding Stock with extended magazine tube is used by Hermosa (Alex Winter) during the final shootout.
Ithaca 37
A police officer is seen using an Ithaca 37 with extended magazine tube during the final shootout.
Winchester Model 1200/1300
A Winchester Model 1200/1300 is used by gang members. It seems that this shotgun was specially used for scenes where a weapon needed to be dropped, such as the scene when Hermosa (Alex Winter) is killed and his Remington 870 changes to this weapon: it may well be a replica or rubber stunt gun.
Rifles
M16
An M16 is used by several punks towards the end of the film. The rifle is hard to identify because there is never have a real clear shot or close-up of it. It is unknown whether this is an actual M16 or just a replica such as an MGC M16.
Ruger Mini-14
Several Ruger Mini-14 rifles are used by gang members. This includes models with folding stocks, as well as rifles fitted with aftermarket stocks.
Grenades
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
A Mk 2 hand grenade is seen being tossed around by a gang member.
Schermuly Training Grenade
British Schermuly Training Grenades fitted with Soviet-style fuzes are also seen in the hands of gang members.
Other
M72 LAW
At the end of the film, Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) uses what appears to be an M72 LAW fitted with a fake pistol grip and trigger. He rather comically managed to fire it in the same room as his target with the back of the tube up against a wall, which should probably have killed everyone in the room. Kersey is also seen loading a rocket into the weapon.
Zip Gun
Rodriguez (Joseph Gonzalez) carries a Zip Gun that fires shotgun shells during the final shootout.
