Nick is then approached by Major Scully and Paul Clarke to help look into the corruption and organized crime boss's involvement in gambling but he again refuses to work the case. Only when Paul Clarke a friend of Nick and Nora becomes a suspect in the murder of a fellow reporter. Nick joins the investigation to prove Paul Clarke is innocent of committing murder. Shadow of the Thin Man was filmed in 1941 about retired detective Nick Charles played by William Powell and his wife Nora Charles played by Myrna Loy as they are out for an afternoon of fun a San Francisco racetrack. Their hopes of fun are dashed when the jockey that threw a race the day before is found dead. Lt Abrams who is investigating the murder seeks help from Nick Charles but Nick does not want to get involved.
