Tom Hanks is an American actor/director/producer who was previously known for his comedic roles in such films as Dragnet (1987) and Turner & Hooch before his Academy Award-winning dramatic turns in the films Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. In addition to his extensive acting career, Hanks also has directed several films and produced the Emmy Award-winning HBO miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific. He also is the father of actor Colin Hanks.
