Iron Man is the 2008 feature film adaptation of the Marvel comic book series. Robert Downey, Jr. stars as Tony Stark, the CEO of a major weapons manufacturer who is seriously wounded in an ambush and captured by enemy fighters. While being held hostage, Stark uses his expertise to assemble a massive armored suit that he uses against his captors. Upon his rescue, he refines his armored suit design for use against those opposing forces intent on doing evil in the world. The film, which was directed by Jon Favreau (Cowboys & Aliens) is part of "Phase One" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that includes The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger and culiminated in 2012's The Avengers. The film would spawn two sequels: 2010's Iron Man 2 and 2013's Iron Man 3.
The following weapons were used in the film Iron Man:
Handguns
Heckler & Koch USP
Members of the Ten Rings including Abu Bakaar (Sayed Badreya) carry the Heckler & Koch USP made by Stark Industries as sidearms. When Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) escapes from their camp using the Mark I armor, one insurgent tires to kill him by shooting him in the head with his USP, only to have the bullet ricochet off the armor and kill him instead.
Glock 17
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents including Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) escorting Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) to arrest Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) are armed with Glock 17s.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch UMP45
Several Teng Rings insurgents are armed with Stark Industries-made Heckler & Koch UMP45s, fitted with C-More red dot sights and Surefire Tactical vertical grips.
Rifles
Heckler & Koch G36K
Raza's Ten Rings fighters carry Heckler & Koch G36K assault rifles, most fitted with G36C-style carry handles. In the film, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) learns that Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) had been secretly selling Stark Industries weapons behind his back to the Ten Rings as part of Stane's attempts to take over Stark Industries, making them better armed than any of the other militant factions in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The various assault weapons used by Raza's men, including the H&Ks, are therefore supposed to be Stark Industries products. It is also possible that in the Marvel universe, Stark Industries obtained a license from Heckler & Koch to produce G36 and UMP-series weapons in the U.S. Or that Stark industries has bought Heckler & Koch.
Heckler & Koch G36C
Several of Raza's men are also armed with the compact version of the G36, the Heckler & Koch G36C. The G36's are also outfitted with many accessories to disguise their origins. During the escape from the Ten Rings' camp, Yinsen (Shaun Toub) grabs a G36C dropped by one of the fighters and runs towards Raza's men firing wildly, trying to divert attention from Stark until the suit is powered up and he can use it to fight his way out.
Heckler & Koch AG36
Raza (Faran Tahir) is seen with a H&K G36K fitted with a Heckler & Koch AG36 grenade launcher, which he fires at Stark in the prototype Iron Man armor, but misses and is knocked out by Stark's missile instead. Erroneously the grenade fired is shown traveling like a rocket, with a flame trail and a perfectly horizontal trajectory. Grenades are not rocket propelled and travel in an arc.
SIG SG 552
One of Raza's men is seen armed with a SIG SG 552 with tactical outfitting.
M4A1
USAF Airmen stationed in Afghanistan are seen armed with M4A1 carbines. They are also used by airport security when Tony Stark returns to the United States. The M4A1's in the movie are equipped with Insight Technologies ISM-V scopes.
M4A1 with M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System
Held by one of Raza's men is an M4A1 with a Magpul Buttstock and an M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System (MASS) fitted under the barrel. The image seen below is a heavily edited clip that is included on the U.S. version of the trailer. The M4 with M26 is put in to replace another shot of the weapon that is pointed at Tony Starks' head. The MPAA doesn't allow trailers to show any weapons to pointed at a person, even if that's how the final cut shows it. This seems to be a fairly common practice as evidenced in the trailers for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Cop Out.
M4A1 with M203 Grenade Launcher
Some of Raza's men are seen with M4A1 rifles fitted with M203 grenade launchers.
IMI Galil MAR
One of Raza's men is seen armed with a IMI Galil MAR, the most compact version of the Galil assault rifle.
Machine Guns
Mk 46 Mod 0 Light Machine Gun
When Stark is giving his presentation of the Jericho missile, a row of Mk 46 Mod 0 Light Machine Guns are seen on a table.
FN M240B
USAF Airmen in Afghanistan are sen manning FN M240B machine guns mounted on top of their Humvees.
Browning M2HB
Both Ten Rings fighters and USAF Airmen in Afghanistan can be seen using the Browning M2HB 50-caliber machine gun. The Ten Rings fighters place the machine guns in their camp, with the USAF Airmen have them mounted on top of their Humvees. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes (Terrence Howard) is seen firing a Browning M2 machine gun from atop of Humvee in a deleted scene.
Browning M3 Heavy Machine Gun
A Browning M3 heavy machine gun is seen mounted on the HH-60 Pave Hawk that locates Tony.
Heavy Weapons
M61A2 Vulcan
An F-22 Raptor is seen opening fire on Iron Man with its 20mm M61A2 Vulcan Cannon.
FGM-148 Javelin
FGM-148 Javelin missile launchers can be seen in the Ten Rings' camp.
BGM-71 TOW
BGM-71 TOW missile launchers can be seen in the Ten Rings' camp.
Armored Suit Weapons
Mark I
The Iron Man Mark I suit, which Stark assembles while in captivity, is armed with two primary weapons:
Flamethrower
Two flamethrowers are mounted in each arm of the Mark I suit.
Rocket Launchers
A rocket launcher is also mounted in the left arm.
Mark II
M134 Minigun
During the end credits, a blueprint drawing featuring the Iron Man Mark II suit that would become the War Machine is seen with an M134 Minigun mounted on the shoulder.
Mark III
The Iron Man Mark III suit (the primary suit used by Stark) carries energy repulsor weapons and other launchers.
Forearm Rocket Launcher
A rocket launcher is mounted in the Mark III's right arm.
Multiple Projectile Launcher
The Mark III is also fitted with two small-caliber multi-barrel projectile launchers in the shoulders. This system is possibly based on the Metal Storm weapon systems.
Iron Monger
The "Iron Monger" suit that is secretly assembled by Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) carries several massive weapons:
Gatling Gun
A six-barreled Gatling-type gun (which appears to be based in part on the 30mm General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger weapons system mounted on the A-10 Warthog) is mounted in the right arm.
Rotary Rocket Launcher
A rotary rocket launcher is mounted underneath the left arm.
Shoulder Rocket Launcher
A massive rocket launcher with a laser sight is mounted in the shoulder.
