Gunner, HEAT, PC! is a vehicle-centric combined arms combat simulator developed and self-published by Radian Simulations. It is set in the late Cold War period, portraying a breakout of hostilities between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in the Fulda Gap region of the inner German border. The game is a streamlined tank simulator (including IFVs, APCs, and other ground vehicles) and has two singleplayer modes - an early campaign featuring logistical attrition, and an instant action mode for more immediate gameplay. Both modes can be played either as NATO or the Pact. Currently, the United States Army is the only NATO sub-faction readily playable. As of 2024 updates, both the East German National Volksarmee (NVA) and the Soviet Western Group of Forces are implemented for the Warsaw Pact. West Germany and infantry elements of gameplay are planned as part of GHPC's eventual 1.0 full release.
The following weapons appear in the video game Gunner, HEAT, PC!:
Infantry Weapons
M16A1
US Army CENTAG forces use the M16A1 as their standard rifle. It's seen with and without the bayonet affixed. The M16A2 is seen in the pre-release roadmap but may have been changed due to the A1 still being more prevalent in the Fulda Gap zone in 1985.
MPi-KM-72
The MPi-KM-72 appears as the service rifle for the East German NVA.
M72 LAW
US Army squads carry M72 LAW launchers as their antitank weapon.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 is the standard infantry AT launcher for the Pact.
Mounted Weapons
9K111 Fagot
The Warsaw Pact's ATGM emplacement is the 9K111 Fagot.
9M113 Konkurs
BMP variants have the 9M113 Konkurs ATGM launchers.
BGM-71 TOW
The BGM-71 TOW is widely used by the US Army. It appears as a standalone emplacement and as one of the M2 Bradley's primary armaments, and is used by Army Aviation AH-1S Cobras. The TOW-equipped M901 IOTV is also present in some Instant Action missions - it is the only NPC only ground vehicle at the moment.
Browning M2HB
US Army vehicles also commonly mount Browning M2HB heavy machine guns. It is only usable currently by the M113 APC.
Degtyaryov DT
A DDR T-34-85 is available in the game's instant action customizer as an easter egg tank. It has a usable coaxial Degtyaryov DT machine gun, and an unusable one mounted in the hull.
DShKM
DShKM heavy machine guns are present on DDR T-54/55s and the Soviet T-62. It is not usable currently.
General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger
USAF A-10A Thunderbolt IIs may deliver NATO air strike packages. They have General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger autocannons although the air strike is usually performed with Mk 82 bombs.
General Electric M61 Vulcan
F-4E and F-104G aircraft appear in-game as the other strike fighters that appear when calling for air support. They would be armed with the M61 Vulcan, though they don't use 20mm cannon fire strafes in-game.
Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23L
Warsaw Pact airstrikes are performed by the DDR Air Force/Luftstreitkräfte MiG-23BNs. They have visible Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23 guns slung under the fuselage.
KPV
The Pact's APCs and scout cars - the SPW-60B (East German BTR-60), Soviet BTR-70, and BRDMs used by both armies have KPV 14.5mm HMGs. It has rather small belts of 50 rounds, with 450 in reserve.
M28 Helicopter Armament Subsystem
The GE M134 Minigun and M129 grenade launcher are present in the nose turrets of the AH-1S Cobra, though these armaments aren't readily used in-game.
M85 heavy machine gun
All the M60 tank variants have M85 heavy machine guns mounted in the commanders cupola. These are currently the only usable tank commander MGs. It uses 100 round belts, with 800 round in reserve.
M219
The M219 variant of the M73 machine gun is used on old reserve M60A1 and M60A1 AOS tanks, with a 5,950 round belt.
M240
Most of the United States' fighting vehicles have then-new M240 machine gun. It is coaxially mounted in the M60A1 - M60A3 tanks, the M1 and M1IP, and the M2 Bradley. The loader's M240s on the Abrams tanks aren't usable for the moment. It has a 10,000 round belt in the Abrams tanks, and 800 + 1600 reserve rounds in the Bradley.
M242 Bushmaster
The M242 Bushmaster chaingun is the main gun of the M2 Bradley. It loads 70 rounds of M791 APDS-T and 231 rounds of M792 HEI-T, with 50 more shells of M791 in reserve.
NSVT
The later Cold War tanks of the Warsaw Pact have NSVT machineguns as the commander HMG. As with the DShKM, these are not usable currently.
PKT
Essentially every Soviet/Warsaw Pact vehicle carries a PKT machine gun coaxially. It has 250 round belt boxes, with varying amounts of reserve ammunition depending on the vehicle (a 2,000 round belt in the case of the BMP variants).
Shipunov 2A42
Both Pact nations use the BMP-2 IFV, which sports the Shipunov 2A42 as its primary armament. The 2A42 has a combat loadout of 160 rounds of 3UBR6 APBC-T for engaging APCs and IFVs, and 341 rounds of 3UOR6 HEI-T for softer targets.
SPG-9
The SPG-9 appears as an AT emplacement for the Warsaw Pact.
Yakushev-Borzov Yak-B
Mi-24 Hinds used by both the DDR and Soviet frontal aviation units have Yakushev-Borzov Yak-B chin guns.
