The original Beretta 92 is the standard pistol in the game. Holds 17 rounds but in reality it holds 15 and is called the "Pistol". Carried by the VCPD, National Guard Soldiers, and most gangsters.

The Beretta 92F is the standard pistol in the game. It holds 17 rounds, as opposed to the real weapon's usual 15-round capacity (real 17-round Beretta magazines have a deeper base, and weren't available during the game's setting). It is carried by the VCPD, National Guard Soldiers (anachronistic, because the military wouldn't adopt the Beretta until 1985, a year after the game is set), and most gangsters.

The Colt Python returns as the "Equalizer" with an 8" barrel and non-functional telescopic sight. Usually kills with one shot. One of the villains, Armando Mendez, notably uses one to shoot the Domestibot controlled by Vic after it destroys the bearer bonds in his safe. Lance uses one without a scope to threaten Bryan Forbes when its revealed that Forbes is a cop.

Colt Python
The Colt Python returns; this time it is referred to as the "Equalizer" (which is actually a nickname for a different Colt revolver, the Single Action Army), and comes with a non-functional telescopic sight. It usually kills with one shot, at the cost of a slow rate of fire. Armando Mendez notably uses one during the mission "Domo Arigato Domestoboto", but only in the PS2 version (in the PSP version, he uses a Beretta 92F instead). In full-motion cutscenes, the weapon is shown without a scope.

The Over and Under Shotgun returns from Liberty City Stories, and still functions erroneously as a pump-action shotgun. Once again, it can be found in police cars, and is carried as a self-defense weapon by gun shop owners.

The IMI Uzi is carried by SWAT and some gangsters. Has good rate of fire and decent accuracy.

+
A sawed-off Ithaca 37 appears as the "Stubby Shotgun". Unlike in previous games, it is not the "Stakeout" variant, but rather the standard version with a sawed-off barrel and stock. While the real Ithaca 37 has a bottom ejection system, the in-game weapon is curiously depicted with a top left ejection port (the Stevens Model 67 has a similar one, but on the top right instead). It has a wider shot spread than the other shotguns, but a much shorter range.

Carried by the FBI and Gang members. A strange amalgamation of MP5 parts; it has the collapsible stock of the MP5A3, the shorter barrel and vertical foregrip of the MP5K, the foregrip is undersized giving the appearance of the smooth forearm with a catch at the end as seen on the SP89, and the muzzle almost appears to be an attempt at an MP5SD suppressor. The MAC-10 returns, but this time it has a slower rate of fire and comes with a non-functioning suppressor (and a rather stubby one to boot). This is a tribute to the beta version of Vice City, but the original model had a suppressor of normal length.

The AK-47 is carried by some gangsters. Good stopping power and accuracy. During the final battle, the main villain of the game, Jerry Martinez, carries one, and another villain, Diego Mendez, also uses one during this battle.

+
The "SMG" is carried by the FBI and the US Army, as well as by some gang members. It is based on the Heckler & Koch MP5K "Reverse Stretch" variant, a weapon created by combining an MP5K front end with a full-size MP5 receiver. Unlike the real gun, the vertical front grip is missing, and instead it strangely uses a protrusion on the front end of the gun, enlarged and inclined; as for the muzzle, it almost appears to be an attempt at an MP5SD suppressor (it extends past the forearm, but is thicker than a barrel should be).

XM16E1
+

Carried by National Guardsmen. Great accuracy and stopping power. In one mission, Lance Vance incorrectly refers to it as an M4. It is modeled with a 20 round magazine that incorrectly holds 30 rounds. While the M16A2 was developed in the early 80s, the US Army (who occupies Fort Baxter) didn't adopt it until 1988, four years after the game's events, so the use of the XM16E1 is (relatively) accurate.

The XM16E1 is carried by by National Guardsmen, and comes with great accuracy and stopping power. At one point, Lance Vance refers to it as an M4, which is not only incorrect, but also anachronistic. It holds 30 rounds, despite being modeled with a 20-round magazine. Phil Cassidy is seen using one on a firing range when he first meets Vic. It is only used once in the game in the mission "Farewell to Arms". It is used by Vic to shoot gang members, who are attacking Gonzalez's men, from a helicopter and only found in one place in the game: the movie studio (unless you shoot all 99 red balloons in the game, then it spawns at every safe house).

Vic is required to use one during the mission "Turn on, Tune in, Bug out", to destroy several antennae being used by the DEA in their attempt to listen in on Vic and Lance. A group of thugs sent to intimidate the duo also use one in the mission "Light My Pyre" to destroy Lance's car.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is a 2006 sandbox/action adventure game. It is a prequel to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and is only available for the PS2 and PSP.

The following weapons appear in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories:

Handguns

Beretta 92F

The Beretta 92F is the standard pistol in the game. It holds 17 rounds, as opposed to the real weapon's usual 15-round capacity (real 17-round Beretta magazines have a deeper base, and weren't available during the game's setting). It is carried by the VCPD, National Guard Soldiers (anachronistic, because the military wouldn't adopt the Beretta until 1985, a year after the game is set), and most gangsters.

Inside the Ammu-Nation store of the North Point Mall, some of the displayed Beretta 92F pistols have elongated slides, while others have shortened slides (like the Beretta 85FS).

Shotguns

Over and Under Shotgun

The Over and Under Shotgun returns from Liberty City Stories, and still functions erroneously as a pump-action shotgun. Once again, it can be found in police cars, and is carried as a self-defense weapon by gun shop owners.

Ithaca 37 Sawed-Off

A sawed-off Ithaca 37 appears as the "Stubby Shotgun". Unlike in previous games, it is not the "Stakeout" variant, but rather the standard version with a sawed-off barrel and stock. While the real Ithaca 37 has a bottom ejection system, the in-game weapon is curiously depicted with a top left ejection port (the Stevens Model 67 has a similar one, but on the top right instead). It has a wider shot spread than the other shotguns, but a much shorter range.

A more detailed model is used during cutscenes.
A drunken Phil points his Ithaca 37 at Vic. The ejection port seems to be too small for 12 gauge shells.

Franchi SPAS-12

The Franchi SPAS-12 returns with its semi-automatic function and 7-round magazine, but this time with the stock unfolded.

Submachine Guns

Skorpion Vz. 61

The Skorpion Vz. 61 replaces the TEC-9 from previous games, and retains its 50-round magazine capacity rather than the correct 20-rounder from the real Skorpion.

MAC-10

The MAC-10 returns, but this time it has a slower rate of fire and comes with a non-functioning suppressor (and a rather stubby one to boot). This is a tribute to the beta version of Vice City, but the original model had a suppressor of normal length.

Uzi

The Uzi is carried by SWAT officers and some gangsters. It has decent accuracy, but like the MAC-10 it has a slower fire rate than in Vice City and Liberty City Stories.

Heckler & Koch MP5K "Reverse Stretch"

The "SMG" is carried by the FBI and the US Army, as well as by some gang members. It is based on the Heckler & Koch MP5K "Reverse Stretch" variant, a weapon created by combining an MP5K front end with a full-size MP5 receiver. Unlike the real gun, the vertical front grip is missing, and instead it strangely uses a protrusion on the front end of the gun, enlarged and inclined; as for the muzzle, it almost appears to be an attempt at an MP5SD suppressor (it extends past the forearm, but is thicker than a barrel should be).

Assault Rifles

AK-47

The AK-47 appears in the game, with good stopping power and accuracy. It is carried by several gangsters, and is notably used by Jerry Martinez and Diego Mendez.

XM16E1

The XM16E1 is carried by by National Guardsmen, and comes with great accuracy and stopping power. At one point, Lance Vance refers to it as an M4, which is not only incorrect, but also anachronistic. It holds 30 rounds, despite being modeled with a 20-round magazine. While the M16A2 was developed in the early 80s, the US Army (who occupies Fort Baxter) didn't adopt it until 1988, four years after the game's events, so the use of the XM16E1 is (relatively) accurate.

US Army soldiers aim their XM16E1s at Vic for bringing prostitutes and blow on the base. The solid black blocks where the front sight and on the grip are texturing errors; bugs, that for some unknown reason were not fixed by the release.

Sniper Rifles

M21

The M21 replaces the Remington 700 from previous games. This is a rather inappropriate choice, as the real M21 is semi-automatic, whereas the in-game weapon still operates as a bolt action.

In-game model.

SVD Dragunov

The SVD Dragunov is the most powerful sniper rifle in the game. It holds 7 rounds per magazine (like the SR9(T) from GTA Vice City and GTA Liberty City Stories) rather than the real 10, and has a laser magnifying scope.

In-game model.

Heavy Weapons

M249E1 SAW

The M249E1 SAW appears in the game; it holds 100 rounds and is very powerful, being able to destroy vehicles very quickly. Phil Cassidy is seen using one in a firing range when he is first met by Vic. The player is tasked to use one from a helicopter in the mission in "Farewell to Arms", to shoot gang members attacking Gonzalez's men. During free roam, it can only found in one place, which is the movie studio in Prawn Island (unless the player shoots all 99 red balloons of game, in which case the M249 will spawn at every safehouse owned by Vic).

Handheld GAU-19/A

As in Liberty City Stories, the portable "Minigun" is modeled after a General Dynamics GAU-19/A.

This is an airsoft version which retains the half-circle attachment point for the M60 foregrip from Predator; the real T2 minigun did not have this - (fake) 7.62x51mm NATO

M72 LAW

The M72 LAW returns from Grand Theft Auto III, with its fictitious reloading capabilities. However, it now appears modified with a pistol grip (explicitly to reuse the RPG-7 animations from previous games), but fires in the right direction.

Flamethrower

The fictional flamethrower seen in previous GTA games makes a final appearance in Vice City Stories.

Other

Beretta 92FS Inox

The Beretta 92FS Inox replaces the 92F in full-motion cutscenes, and is not usable during gameplay. This variant is anachronistic, since it was introduced in 1990, while the game takes place in 1984.

The protagonist Victor Vance points his Beretta 92FS Inox at Umberto Robina when they first meet. Although it is difficult to see here, the pistol in the game also has wooden grips.

M7 CS Gas Grenade

Unusable M7 CS gas grenades are displayed inside various Ammu-Nation stores. They have a different texture compared to their counterpart in GTA Vice City (PS2 version) and GTA San Andreas.

M230 Chain Gun

Vice City Stories features a version of the Hughes AH-64 Apache, known in-game as the "Hunter". It has an M230 Chain Gun in a chin mount, wing mounts containing eight AGM-114 Hellfire missiles in two packs of four, as well as two non-functional Hydra 70 rocket pods. Vic steals a "Hunter" from the army base in the penultimate mission of the game, then proceeds to used it in the final mission in order to shoot up a building. After the game is completed, the helicopter becomes available at the east entrance of Escobar International Airport.

An artwork of Bryan Forbes shows him holding a sawed-off Remington 870, more precisely an airsoft version as evidenced by the short box magazine.

Beretta M12

Although not used in the game, a Beretta M12 is seen in an artwork of Diego Mendez.
