The Avengers is the 2012 superhero film based on the Marvel comic book series. Like the comic book, the film brings together four of Marvel's greatest superheroes to fight a global threat. The film was directed by Joss Whedon, the creator of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly television series, and the cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson, who were first introduced in the films Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger. The film, which was also released under the title Avengers Assemble, is the culmination of "Phase One" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and would go on to become the highest worldwide-grossing film of all time not directed by James Cameron until it was surpassed in 2015 by Jurassic World. Several Avengers sequels would follow, including 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2018's Avengers: Infinity War as well as 2019's Avengers: Endgame, which surpassed Avatar (until its re-release) to become the highest worldwide-grossing film ever.
The following weapons were used in the film The Avengers:
Handguns
Glock 26
Agent Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) carries a pair of Glock 26s as her sidearms in dual Blackhawk Serpa CQC thigh holsters, replacing the stainless Walther PPK/S previously carried in Iron Man 2.
Glock 19
S.H.I.E.L.D. agents including Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) carry the Glock 19 as their sidearm. At least one or two mercenaries disguised as SHIELD agents carry Glock 19s as well. NYPD officers also are seen with the Glock 19 pistols including Officer Saunders (Enver Gjokaj) and Sgt. Silva (Robert Clohessy).
Glock 17
A Glock 17 is seen being loaded up by a mercenary disguised as a SHIELD agent as Hawkeye and his men are about to infiltrate the SHIELD Helicarrier.
Heckler & Koch P30
Agent Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) carries a Heckler & Koch P30 as his sidearm, notably when he was brainwashed by Loki.
Smith & Wesson M&P
SHIELD Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) can be seen carrying the Smith & Wesson M&P as his sidearm. Interestingly, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are equipped with the M&P as their standard pistol instead of the Glock 17 featured prominently in the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in those MCU films. As stated previously, the Smith & Wesson M&P appears to have phased out the 3rd generation Glock 17s after the events of Avengers, however some Glocks are still carried by veteran agents afterwards.
M1911A1
In one of the flashbacks to his adventures during World War II, Captain America (Chris Evans) is seen wielding an M1911A1 along with his shield in what is footage from Captain America: The First Avenger.
Makarov PM
One of the men interrogating Black Widow has a Makarov PM tucked in his waistband.
Submachine Guns
KRISS Vector
The KRISS Vector is seen being used by one of the mercenaries accompanying Hawkeye as they board the ship. It is seen again later as the mercenary shoots at Captain America.
Heckler & Koch UMP
One of the mercenaries accompanying Hawkeye carries a Heckler & Koch UMP.
Shotguns
Remington 870
NYPD officers are also seen with Remington 870 shotguns.
Winchester Model 1897 "Trench Gun"
Captain America (Chris Evans) experiences a flashback to his missions during World War II, where Timothy "Dum Dum" Dugan (Neal McDonough), one of Captain America's "Howling Commandos", is seen with a Winchester Model 1897 "Trench Gun". This footage is from Captain America: The First Avenger.
Saiga 12K
One of Loki's mercenaries uses a Saiga 12K during the Helicarrier assault.
Rifles
M4A1 Carbine
Members of the New York National Guard are seen with M4A1 Carbines during the battle on the streets of Manhattan. SHIELD agents carry M4A1 equipped with EOtech MPO holosights while escorting a restrained Loki.
Noveske N4 Diplomat
Mercenaries disguised as SHIELD agents carry Noveske N4 Diplomat carbines during the SHIELD Helicarrier raid. Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) is briefly seen firing a Noveske N4 Diplomat taken from one of the mercenaries disguised as a SHIELD agent. The rifle appears to be fitted with a Aimpoint CompM4 red dot scope, Niveske muzzle flash hider, Vltor VIS upper, Vltor IMOD stock, Troy BUIS and Magpul P-Mag.
AKM
During the interrogation of Black Widow at the beginning of the movie, crates full of AKM rifles are briefly seen. Mercenaries disguised as SHIELD agents can be seen carrying accessorized AKM rifles.
IMI Galil MAR
Some of Loki's mercenaries use Galil MAR rifles.
SIG SG 552
The SIG SG 552 assault rifle is another rifle used by the mercenaries accompanying Hawkeye.
Steyr AUG A3
The Steyr AUG A3 is another rifle used by enemy operatives accompanying Hawkeye.
Heckler & Koch G36C
The German security guards guarding the Stuttgart building in Berlin wield Heckler & Koch G36Cs.
Machine Guns
Browning M2HB
A US Army HMMWV can be seen with a pintle mounted Browning M2HB.
General Dynamics GAU-17/A
The SHIELD Quinjet in the film is seen armed with an under-mounted General Dynamics GAU-17/A.
M249 SAW Para
One of Loki's mercenaries can be briefly seen handling an M249 SAW Para.
Other
AirTronic RPG-7
SHIELD Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) can be seen using an AirTronic RPG-7 launcher (a modernized US manufactured version of the RPG-7) to fire a custom warhead at a plane launching off the SHIELD helicarrier. A mercenary patrolling in Loki's underground hideout is briefly seen with one.
Mk 19 grenade launcher
The Mk 19 grenade launcher is seen mounted on several Humvees in New York.
MM1 grenade launcher
What appears to be an MM1 grenade launcher is used by a member of the tactical team sent on a capture mission.
General Dynamics GAU-22/A
The SHIELD fighter plane resembling a Lockheed Martin F-35B jet is seen engaging the Hulk with what appears to be a pair of GAU-22/A 25mm guns. This configuration is very similar to the F-35B seen in the film Live Free or Die Hard. In reality, the F-35B is only outfitted with a single external gunpod. The SHIELD jet fires its twin cannons before the Hulk jumps onto the body of the jet.
"ALS" Flashbang Grenade
What appears to be a flashbang grenade is used to breach in the bridge of the SHIELD helicarrier during Hawkeye's assault. The grenade is similar to the "ALS" prop grenade seen in such series as The Unit.
