Making Pages
Your page for Lisztomania has too many unidentified weapons on it. In the future, please try to make a bigger effort to identify the weapons before making a page and place any further unidentified weapons in the discussion page. Also, please make your screenshots are Safe for Work (in other words, no nudity or needlessly graphic shots). Please review the Rules, Standards and Principles page prior to future revisions.
- Hi, thanks for the remarks. I'm rather new here, so I do not yet know about the usual treatment of articles with unidentified weapons. I supposed that some users with a sharp eye and considerable knowledge on 19th century rifles could quickly identify the rifles, but apparently this website lacks the editorial attendance, compared to similar projects such as the Internet Movie Cars Database, or so. I'll keep this in mind for future articles. Regarding the Safe for Work thing: It's your website and I will not complain if you delete or edit problematic images. I'm glad you already did so with the mentioned shots. Kind greetings!-- Benny Frandsen 17:05, 11 August 2011 (CDT)
I'm not sure what you mean by editorial attendance, but it's preferable that the page makers to try and make a good effort first at identifying the weapons, or else the admins would be spending all day modifying a whole bunch of pages made with loads of unidentified weapons. --Ben41 19:55, 12 August 2011 (CDT)
- Well, I just mean that, like in Wikipedia or the IMCDB, any visitor could come across an unidentified weapon in an article and say "Hmm, that one's unidentified, but I just recognize it. So let me just edit this article or write something about it on the discussion page." Regarding the IMFDB I think that it simply lacks that many people view the specific pages with unidentified weapons on them. Additionally, IMFDB currently has not that many templates, which could indicate articles missing specific information etc (like e.g. an "unidentified weapons" template). Anyway, of course I will try to do better in the future.-- Benny Frandsen 06:14, 13 August 2011 (CDT)
Arizona Dream Shotgun
The shotgun in Arizona Dream is a Mossberg 500, not a Remington 870. If you are uncertain what model a weapon is, browse through the Guns category to see if you can find a match. We also have an ever-expanding guide specifically for pump-action shotguns. Be sure to note how I've formatted the page for future reference as well, especially the use of stock gun images for each weapon listing. Also, you should leave responses to comments on your talk page on the other user's talk page, that way they are notified that you have responded.--PistolJunkie 21:24, 5 September 2011 (CDT)
- Hi, thanks for the correction. Especially the guide is very helpful, I'll use this in the future.-- Benny Frandsen 05:03, 6 September 2011 (CDT)
- Except you forgot the part about responding on the other user's talk page. I had to go to your talk page to see if you had responded. If you had left me a message on my talk page, I would have been notified of your response the moment I logged in.--PistolJunkie 06:26, 6 September 2011 (CDT)
Screenshots
When uploading screenshots, please use the entire widescreen frame instead of just a portion. --Ben41 20:15, 14 March 2012 (CDT)
- I personally find especially the black bars above/below widescreens disturbing, but I still got the original VLC shots here. Shall I re-upload them? --Benny Frandsen 21:07, 14 March 2012 (CDT)
- No, you need to crop the black bars off, but you appeared to have also cropped off some of the actual picture as well. I've reuploaded the screenshots in their original aspect ratio. The only reason to crop off a portion if there are NSFW imagery such as nudity or excessive gore. --Ben41 22:38, 14 March 2012 (CDT)
Germany
- So you're German. My wife and I lived in Germany for three years when I was serving in the U.S. Army. We lived in Germany from August 1993 to August 1996. I was assigned to an Army installation that was next to a small village called Hohenfels. Hohenfels is located in Bavaria between Neurenburg and Regensburg. Our daughter was born while we were in Germany. We are returning to Germany for a one month visit at the end of May of this year (2012). We have friends in Wurzburg and they have an apartment that they will let us use while we are there. Very generous of them. We also have some friends in Stuttgart so we will probably spend a couple days there as well. It's been many years since we were in Germany. We're looking forward to our visit.
Well anyway a belated welcome to imfdb. I'm one of the moderators here. Feel free to ask any questions that you might have. I'm not very savy when it comes to computers or Wiki software, but I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to revolvers. Okay. Take care. Talk to you later. --Jcordell 08:51, 16 March 2012 (CDT)
