Tim Robbins is an American actor well known for his roles in such films as Bull Durham, The Player, Cadillac Man, and War of the Worlds in addition to his acclaimed role as Andy Dufresne in the 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption. He also directed and wrote the screenplay for the 1995 film Dead Man Walking, which co-starred his former longtime partner Susan Sarandon, a role for which she received the Academy Award for Best Actress and he would be nominated for Best Director. In 2003, his role as Dave Boyle in the Clint Eastwood-directed film Mystic River would garner him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
