Tarp (Warren Vanders) and his band of natives are armed with Saddle Ring Carbines during the shootout against John's group.

Finally, after abandoning him, John's group returns to support the latter in his search, although Hoop did not want to cooperate.

Springfield Model 1873 "Trapdoor Springfield"
During the film's climax, several US Army soldiers are seen using Springfield Trapdoor Rifles against the natives who wanted to free Tarp from the soldiers. Some Mexican officers carry what appears to be a rare variant of a Springfield Trapdoor Rifle in the fort where John Benedict goes to recruit members to accompany him on his quest.

The Mexican soldiers order John to disarm before entering the fort.
A soldier guards John while he chooses the prisoners who will lead his group to accompany him on his search.
Hoop arms himself with the Mexican soldiers' Springfield rifles, but John stops him and orders him to put the rifles down.
After his group leaves him for dead, John is captured by Mexican soldiers, who were following him to arrest him.
