The Marco Effect is a 2021 Danish movie directed by Martin Zandvliet (Land of Mine) and the fifth film adaption of a novel by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen. A 14-year-old teenager named Marco is picked up by the police on a train to Denmark. In his possession is the passport of William Stark, who disappeared without a trace many years ago after being framed for a serious crime. The case was already on file, but now Inspector Carl Mørck and his partner Assad from Special Squad Q of the Copenhagen Homicide Department have to reopen the case.

Nikolaj Lie Kaas played the character of Carl Mørck and Fares Fares played his partner Assad in the four films about Department Q that have already been released.
