I don't believe those are BM59s mocked up to look like M-14s but rather M-1 Garands mocked up for the same purpose. Similar weapons are visible in A Rumor of War and Escape from the Planet of the Apes. They were widely used before civilian versions like the Springfield M1A or Norinco M14S. --Charon68 (talk) 20:37, 13 October 2013 (EDT)

- I realized that most of the stuff on wikipedia came from one book, so I just went on ebay and bought that book, which is very extensive. But the backstage drama is fascinating, with the creative staff pitted against the beancounters, corporate culture, clashes of ego, all of which probably apply to most shows out there. --Funkychinaman (talk) 12:06, 18 September 2013 (EDT)
