Strange magazine of ZB26

The curved magazine doesn't match ZB26. Though it also look different from Bren. I have read that in 1950s (or 60s?) in China ZB26s were converted for using 7.62x39 cartgidges with AK-47 style magazines. Maybe the movie used MG is an example of such conversion? The ZB26 machine gun in this is confusing me a bit. First off it isn't a normal ZB26 as the gas piston tube is not the full length of the barrel, but is more like a Bren length one. However I don't think it is a Bren either as that had no cooling fins on the barrel and the receiver is off looking more like a ZB 26. Could it be one of the later versions like th ones that were made for British trials? To me, it seems like the closest match would be a ZGB 30, but even that is off having cooling fins down the full length of the barrel rather than just on the rear half. I've heard the same thing about Chinese ZBs feeding from AK mags, but I have seen kits to do this for stock ZB-26s and Brens so it may not be original but instead a recent conversion to allow for more common ammo. --commando552 (talk) 07:40, 22 April 2013 (EDT)

I agree with the 7.62x39mm conversion, but what is it a conversion of? I think this is a Chinese ZB 26, and as you can see it has the full length gas piston tube of the original Czech gun, rather than the Bren length ones seen on the movie gun. --commando552 (talk) 09:47, 22 April 2013 (EDT)

Mortar

Sorry, but the mortar is misidentified. Note the length of Type 97 barrel and compare it with the "snub nose" mortar used in the movie. The last two images look more like 60mm M2 Mortars. The bi-pod design is what gives it away. As for the one they are carrying in the first image it is definitely larger, is it meant to be the same weapon? I think this first mortar may be a lightweight mock up for shots where it is being carried. The base plate has a simple loose cup in the middle rather than the more complicated attachment seen on a real mortar, and it also looks way too big to be being carried that easily considering how thick and heavy duty mortar base plates need to be. --commando552 (talk) 09:25, 22 April 2013 (EDT) Maybe there is a more types. M2s or audio/visual mismatch?

I think the M1 carbines might actually be the selective-fire M2s; either that or they dubbed automatic fire in whenever they were shown firing. In several scenes, you can clearly hear automatic gunfire from them (it's not the machine guns as it's a different sound), though looking at one when it does, it appears to only be ejecting one round at a time.--Big D; 8/4/2013, 19:36
