Return To Lonesome Dove is the 1993 sequel miniseries to 1989's groundbreaking Lonesome Dove. The sequel uses characters created by Larry McMurtry in the original novel, but is a completely new story. In this miniseries, Jon Voight took over the role of Captain Woodrow Call (original miniseries star Tommy Lee Jones was busy filming The Fugitive at the time) and Barbara Hershey took over the role of Clara Allen (replacing Anjelica Huston). Reprising their roles from the original miniseries were Rick Schroder as Newt Dobbs, Timothy Scott as Pea Eye Parker, Barry Tubb as Jasper Fant and Chris Cooper as July Johnson.

The following weapons were used in the miniseries Return To Lonesome Dove:

Handguns

Colt 1873 SAA

The Colt Single Action Army is given a predominant role throughout the mini-series, but other makes and models do make appearances. Numerous characters use the Colt SAA.

Single Action Army w/ 5.5" barrel aka "Artillery" model with wooden grips (this is a Cimarron reproduction - and an actual movie gun) Note lack of 4th screw on revolver frame in front of cylinder. The Colts all have this.
Colt Single Action Army w/ 7.5" barrel known as the "Cavalry" model.
Agustina Vega (Nia Peeples) fires her Colt SAA "Artillery" at Gus McCrae's grave marker.
Newt (Rick Schroder) fires his Colt Single Action Army in a saloon brawl that has turned deadly.
Jasper Fant (Barry Tubb) fires his Colt Single Action Army in a saloon brawl that has turned deadly.

Colt 1877 Lightning

Gregor Dunnigan (Oliver Reed) carries a nickel plated short barreled Colt 1877 Lightning without the ejecter rod. It appears that his model has the 3.5" barrel. It would be an appropriate revolver for a man of his status to carry. The story takes place in 1878, but being a wealthy man Gregor would be able to afford the very latest revolver from Colt.

Colt 1861 Navy Cartridge Conversion

Though several characters are seen using a Colt 1860 Cartridge Conversion the model receives prominent use by the outlaw Jack Jackson (Dennis Haysbert). The revolver is very close to a Richards Conversion, but with a few differences. The water table on an 1860 Army is recessed for the larger .44 caliber cylinder while a .36 caliber Navy is flat. Possibly it is a modern reproduction.

The outlaw Jack Jackson (Dennis Haysbert) searches for Captain Call with his Colt 1860 Cartridge Conversion at the ready. Note the lack of recess and flat water table.

Remington 1858 New Army

It appears that Captain Gideon Walker (William Petersen) carries a Remington 1858 New Army. It is unknown if it is a cartridge conversion or a percussion model. The model is also used by one of Dunnigan's cowboys.
