Missing (1982)

Missing is a 1982 drama film directed by Costa-Gavras and starring Jack Lemmon as a father who travels to Chile in an attempt to find his journalist son who has disappeared during the military coup in 1973. The film's plot is based on the real the disappearance and subsequent death of American journalist Charles Horman shortly after the 1973 Chilean coup. The film's cast includes Sissy Spacek and Melanie Mayron.

M16A1

The main rifle seen carried by Chilean soldiers in the film is the M16A1. Several of the rifles used in the film appear to be MGC M16 replicas.

In reality, the standard service rifle of the Chilean Army at the time of the coup was the SIG SG 510-4 in 7.62x51mm NATO.
