Manufacture de Machines du Haut-Rhin, commonly known by its abbreviated name Manurhin, is a French manufacturer of firearms and ammunition. Founded in 1919 by Julius Spengler in Haut-Rhin, France as a machine building plant, the company first manufactured firearms in 1952, with its first products being variants of the Walther PP and PPK, as well as versions of the Walther P38 (and later Walther P1) for the West German Bundeswehr. The company is most known for its line of revolvers, in particular the Manurhin MR-73, introduced in 1973 and has since become famed for its use by elite French counter-terrorist forces such as GIGN. In 1998, French arms manufacturer Chapuis Armes purchased Manurhin, and manufacture of Manurhin revolvers was relocated to Saint-Bonnet-le-Château, France, where they are still produced under the Manurhin name. The original Manurhin plant currently manufactures ammunition.
