Llama I

Llama I was the first semi auto pistol manufactured by Gabilondo and Urresti under the trade name Llama. It was based on Colt 1911 system, but scaled down and chambered in .32 ACP caliber, and also features the external extractor. Llama I was produced from 1933 to 1954 alongside with Llama II, chambered in .380 ACP, until both models were phased out in favour of more perfect Llama IIIA.

The Llama III is a Spanish copy of the 1911 pistol chambered in .22 LR or .380 ACP. It can be identified by its small size, external extractor, and that is does have a grip safety (this is also a good way to tell it from a Star Model B 9mm 1911 clone). Later production guns were fitted with a distinctive ventilated rib on the slide.

Llama IX-A, 2nd series - .45 ACP
Llama IX-A, 3rd series - .45 ACP

Manufactured from 1955 to 1985, the Llama IX-A was an improved version of the earlier Llama IX which it replaced. The original 1st series guns have vertical slide serrations, and a 3 vented rib. The 2nd series was introduced in 1970 and introduced slanted slide serrations and eliminated the 3rd vent in the rib behind the ejection port. The 3rd series retained the 2 vented rib of the 2nd series but used a "slab sided" slide which also featured an external extractor. The last variant was the 4th series which had a slab sided slide with a smaller un-vented rib.
