FX-05 Xiuhcoatl
The FX-05 Xiuhcoatl ("Fire Serpent") is a Mexican produced (on purchased foreign equipment) select fire intermediate caliber infantry rifle, which Mexico aims to make its military's standard rifle as soon production allows. Despite extreme external similarities to the Heckler & Koch G36, enough for Heckler & Koch to threaten a lawsuit, the internals differ with the FX-05 using a long stroke gas piston while the G36 uses a short stroke piston among other functional differences. These differences were deemed sufficient for Heckler & Koch to drop their threats upon examination of the rifle and its manufacturing.
