Considering how the Academy Award for Best Picture has it's own category, should the Palme d'Or, the equivalent to best picture at the Cannes film festival, have it's own category too? I checked and I think there's enough entries to justify it. --ZaneTheDudeMan (talk) 11:18, 10 November 2014 (EST)

The Best Picture category was created without asking, and I don't think it's a step in the right direction. What's next, The People's Choice Awards? The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards? --Funkychinaman (talk) 11:26, 10 November 2014 (EST)
Such categories are for IMDB, not for IMFDB. Let's keep the main idea of this site without too many deviations. Greg-Z (talk) 11:37, 10 November 2014 (EST)
I concur with with FCM and Greg. Awards seem like an extraneous categorization that could be taken too far, as fcm explained, and I don't think would help page organization any. Best Picture might be acceptable to hang onto, as well as National Film Registry, but other than that, more could be more harm than good. If anything, I think there's a couple too many categories already. StanTheMan (talk) 12:48, 10 November 2014 (EST)
Absolutely, too many pointless categories would muddle the database. I was just thinking the Palme d'Dor is considered a pretty major award, but I guess the Academy Awards are more than enough to cover that. --ZaneTheDudeMan (talk) 15:02, 10 November 2014 (EST)
