Block-Heads is a 1938 comedy movie directed by John G. Blystone. During the First World War, Stan is given a responsible task: he is assigned to guard a trench. As he was ordered to hold out until he was relieved, Stan remained in his position for a whole 20 years - because a replacement never appeared. He is finally highly decorated for his conscientiousness and returns to civilian life. Here, new chaotic entanglements with his friend Ollie await him.

Colt M1911

A Colt M1911 is briefly seen in the holster of the US Army Lieutenant in the trench (William Royle) at the movie's beginning.

Springfield M1903

Stan (Stan Laurel), Ollie (Oliver Hardy), and other US Army soldiers are armed with M1903 Springfield rifles during World War One.

Ollie says goodbye to Stan who was ordered to guard the trench.
After the whistle signal is given, Ollie and other soldiers go over the top.
Shortly after Stan patrols the trench up and down.

Stan lowers his Springfield as he realizes what the French aviator (George Sorel) is saying to him. The M1905 bayonet is seen to advantage.

Some doughboys are also seen with M1917 Enfields. However, these scenes seem to be taken from another movie from that time.

Mr. Gilbert (Billy Gilbert) owns a 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun which he uses during the film's climax.
