Al Capone (1959)

The following firearms can be seen in the film Al Capone:

Colt Detective Special

Colt Detective Specials are the handgun of choice for most characters in the film, despite it being an anachronistic choice for the scenes prior to 1927. John Scalise (Ron Soble) and Albert Anselmi (Steve Gravers), Capone's main triggermen, carry Detective Specials in shoulder holsters. Dion O'Banion (Robert Gist), an early rival of Capone's, notably carries three. Capt. Schaefler (James Gregory), of the Chicago Police Department, keeps one as his primary sidearm as well. When Capone (Rod Steiger) arrives in Philadelphia, he and his bodyguard are arrested for each carrying one concealed, although we never see Capone actually handling one within the film. In real life Al Capone carried a Colt Police Positive

Thompson M1921AC

Beginning in 1924, the Thompson M1921AC is seen as the main instrument of gangland violence, notably used by Scalise (Ron Soble) and Anselmi (Steve Gravers) during the infamous 1929 St. Valentine's Day Massacre. George "Bugs" Moran (Murvyn Vye) and Earl "Hymie" Weiss (Lewis Charles) also handle Thompsons throughout.
