MP40

The MP40 is used by both German and Italian forces as well as by various POW's when they are disguised as German guards including Col. Joseph L. Ryan (Frank Sinatra), Maj. Eric Fincham (Trevor Howard), and Sgt. Bostick (Brad Dexter).

MP40 - 9mm

Col. Joseph L. Ryan (Frank Sinatra) holds the MP40.

Maj. Eric Fincham (Trevor Howard) fires the MP40.

Sergeant Bostick (Brad Dexter) is armed with the MP40.

The POWs including Private Ames (James Brolin) open fire on a German plane with their MP40's.

Beretta Model 38

Some of the German soldiers appear to be armed with Beretta Model 38/42 submachine guns. These weapons are also used by the POW's.

The Schwarzlose Machine Gun Model 07/12 is seen in machine gun nests at various German checkpoints.

Mauser Gewehr 1898

Both German and Italian troops are armed with Mauser Gewehr 1898 rifles.

Col. Ryan, Maj. Eric Fincham (Trevor Howard), and Sgt. Bostick (Brad Dexter) use the Model 24 Stielhandgranate taken off fallen German soldiers.

Luger P08

Numerous German officers including Colonel Gortz (John van Dreelen) carry the Luger P08. The pistol is seen in the hands of Col. Joseph L. Ryan (Frank Sinatra) and Maj. Eric Fincham (Trevor Howard) as well.

Beretta M1934

Battaglia (Adolfo Celi) and Captain Oriani (Sergio Fantoni) are shown with very smallish holstered sidearms which (judging from the curved tip at the end of the magazine) appear to be the Beretta Model 1934.

Oriani introduces Ryan (Frank Sinatra) to Major Battaglia (Adolfo Celi). Both Italians have holstered sidearms.
