Kokoda is a 2006 Australian war movie directed by Alister Grierson. New Guinea, 1942, Australia is at war with Japan. A small Australian group of the 39th Battalion is in the vicinity of Kokoda as an advance guard. After fierce fighting, they are completely on their own, with no communications, no outside, and no supplies. Isolated far behind enemy lines, they must make their way back. Through the dangerous jungle, without food, weakened by malaria and nasty wounds, always ready to face the enemy.
A documentary mini-series with the same name was released in 2010.

Rifles
Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk. III*
Most of the Australian soldiers carry the Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III* rifle, including Jack Scholt (Jack Finsterer), his brother Max Scholt (Simon Stone), Darko (Travis McMahon), Johnno (Tom Budge), Sam (Steve Le Marquand), Dan (Angus Sampson), Wilstead (Ewen Leslie) and the Lieutenant (Ben Barrack).
Arisaka Type 38
Japanese soldiers use the Arisaka Type 38 long rifle throughout the film.
Submachine Guns
M1928A1 Thompson
Burke (Luke Ford) carries the M1928A1 Thompson as his main weapon with 20 round magazines, to which he has difficulty maintaining, resulting in frequent jammings.
Machine Guns
Bren Gun
Darko (Travis McMahon) and Blue (Christopher Baker) are the Bren Gunners for the Platoon. Australian soldiers can be seen with the Bren gun at their base, and later firing their machine guns during the final battle.
Nambu Type 99
The Japanese use the Type 99 Light Machine Gun in the film. Two use them to kill Johnno (Tom Budge).
Nambu Type 92
A Japanese machine gun crew shoot Max Scholt (Simon Stone) in the stomach during an ambush with a Type 92 heavy machine gun.
Hand Grenades
Mills Bomb
Burke (Luke Ford) and Jack Scholt (Jack Finsterer) can be seen using the Mills Bomb in the film.
