The Heckler & Koch P2000's design is based on the Heckler & Koch USP Compact. The P2000 was designed to be more ergonomic and shooter friendly. It was first introduced in 2001, to law enforcement and commercial markets. Like several other H&K pistols, the P2000 is fully ambidextrous. It is also customizable, and has the H&K mounting rail on the dust cover, altough it limits possible accessory options.
The P2000SK is the sub-compact variant of the P2000, and it can take the higher capacity magazines from the USP Compact.
