Roman Polanski is a French-Polish film director, producer, writer and actor. In 1968 he moved to the United States where he made Oscar-winning horror film Rosemary's Baby (1968) and also for eleven Academy Awards nominated thriller Chinatown (1974). In 1969 Polanski's pregnant wife, actress Sharon Tate , was murdered by members of the Manson Family. In 1977 Polanski was arrested for sex with a minor girl. To avoid sentencing , Polanski fled to his home in London, eventually settling in France.
