They make audacious robberies and distribute the takings from the rich people, in the poor. Thus, Cartouche attracts the people's sympathies, Venus's love, and hate from the Police and Malichot. Malichot goes to the police to betray Cartouche, but he escaping from the trap they had set the police on him when he has an appointment with Venus in the old castle. But later, when he was enchanted by the icy beauty of noblewoman Isabelle de Ferrussac ([[Odile Versois]]), goes to a meeting with her and is caught. His friend tried to arrest him on the way to liberate. In the scuffle that follows, Venus sacrifices her life, to save him. |
