AK-12 - 5.45x39mm

The AK-12 is the latest entry in the legendary Kalashnikov series of rifles. It was developed to replace the AK-74M and the AK-100-series of rifles that was field tested in 2011 and even praised by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Unlike the previous AKs (particularly the 100-series), the AK-12 does not have a designation for the different calibers anymore. In its prototype stages (until Jan 2012), the rifle was known as AK-200 and it looked more like an AK-74M/101/103 fitted with rails.
