Steyr

I think the rifle used by Giliarovsky is a Steyr based on the Magazine shape and the bolt. BeardedHoplite 19:53, 29 November 2011 (CST)

You are absolutely right. A lot of Mannlichers were captured from Austro-Hungarian Army in 1914-16 (and in 1917-18 some were captured back). Most interesting is the fact that many of them were rebarreled to use Russian 7.62x54mmR cartridges. So this one could be 8mm or 7.62mm with equal probability. Greg-Z 23:05, 29 November 2011 (CST)
Thanks, I was wondering why it looked different. I thought maybe it was a variant on the Mosin Nagant. Either way, it's still anachronistic, since the film is set in 1905. --Funkychinaman 23:50, 29 November 2011 (CST)
