A promised console version of the game was subsequently cancelled to great controversy, and on August 9th, 2022, the game was made free-to-play and rebranded Battalion: Legacy.

Set on the Western and Eastern fronts of the Second World War, players play as the United States, Commonwealth, USSR, and Wehrmacht forces. Battalion: Legacy's gameplay is inspired by fast paced multiplayer games such as the Counter-Strike series and puts gameplay before realism and historical accuracy. Each faction has their own exclusive loadouts.
